Ideas, you say?

My idea is sentry drones, 2x sentry damage rigs, at least two (preferably 3) omnidirectional tracking links.

The above and a passive tank..not really that hard....

Three omnis, drone rigs and a passive tank is pretty hard.

There are some active armor tank fits, but a passive shield fit is immensely simpler to implement.

Passive tank is good but active armour will really allow you much better Drone DPS by filling your midslots with upgrades.

Sentries are good if you have T2 but when I started using the Ishtar I used a more mobile armour fit, I think something like the below, CPU can get pretty tight if you use drone rigs and this can be solved by using some faction. Guns can be changed to projectiles for no cap use but I like to use the bonus. What is your skill level?

Hi Alticus,

All my drone skills are at 4/5 (mostly 5). I can use sentry t2 but not used them in game as yet

All the other skill you mentioned are 4/5 (mostly 5) and I can use the rigs that you mentioned.
I cannot use t2 rails (however could train), can use projectiles t2.
Thank you very much

Jak

Basic Ishtar for missions:

2 sentry damage augmentors
2 omnidirectional tracking links
2 hardeners
1 MAR
1 AB

Everything else to taste. I like a damage control on mine in case of webbing or neuts. Make sure you have at least one gun for agro (or a target painter). Carry two sets of sentries (Garde IIs plus racial) and something else to deal with frigs that get close.

It's sub-par against Angels (Gila does much better here) but fine for anything else. Not the fastest but workable.

This is my tried and tested L4 runner, if it doesn't work for you, you're doing it wrong.

Cap mods are skill dependent and how long you want to be able to run. Switch around hardeners to suit the mission. This tank will be broken by quite a few missions so don't sit there assuming you'll live forever orbiting a sentry, you will have to AB around, especially against Angels. The Kin/Therm only dmg missions can usually be done afk.

The ACs are for cap free frigate killing. Caps out with AB and repper active, but you shouldn't need both for very long unless you're doing it wrong. This is by far the most interactive drone fit I've used (you actually have to move around and stuff, crazy)

You can do significantly less damage by going passive shields; with shields you can get a fully passive fit that should tank any L4. The only thing that can kill you is utter boredom.

Just noticed you said Minmatar tribe, unless you get mostly kin/therm dmg missions from them you're better off with a different ship I think.

Excuse me, but what the f*ck are you desu?

Those armor setups are rubbish, you shouldn't need to work to keep the tank from breaking Smile A passive shield setup is far more tankier and thus requires less micromanagement, all the better to watch TV with. This setup has worked for me:

[Ishtar, shield]
Beta Reactor Control: Shield Power Relay I
Beta Reactor Control: Shield Power Relay I
Beta Reactor Control: Shield Power Relay I
Beta Reactor Control: Shield Power Relay I

Large Shield Extender II

Dual 150mm Carbide Railgun I, Antimatter Charge M

Medium Core Defence Field Purger II
Medium Sentry Damage Augmentor II

Garde II x5

If you need more tank drop the tracking link.

Yeah, that's an option. It gets circa 20 DPS less than the dual SDA I setup, costs more, doesn't take advantage of cruiser speed, and has a near-Dominix sig. But the tank versus Guristas or Serpentis basically won't break.

On the other hand, a Dominix does all that better for L4 purposes, and a Rattlesnake does it all better period. So... meh.

Laughably Cap stable, Orbit a drone at 1-2k, turn on your AB and you're good.

Does 500+ DPS, tanks 500+ DPS (Serpentis). Unless you're getting nueted this will out tank most shield Ishtars due to a tiny ass signature that trivializes most incoming damage. In some L4s things won't even break your shield tank. If you really want to be a hardass you can swap some Omnis out for CapReIIs and double MAR it. That being said if you don't run 2 Omnis keep some wardens around for BSes with 50+ km Orbits.

Finally got back to a computer with EFT. Here's a sample Gila fit that will do just as will if not substantially better than the passive Ishtar posted earlier:

[Gila, angels]
Shield Power Relay II
Shield Power Relay II
Beta Reactor Control: Shield Power Relay I
Ballistic Control System II

Y-S8 Hydrocarbon I Afterburners

Berserker II x5

Really, against Angels the Gila is just a better ship. It mounts a better passive shield tank with fewer slots due to the shield resist bonus. It doesn't have to use sentries due to Angels' inherent close range (and sentries are harder to get right on a Gila because it lacks the Ishtar's drone control range bonus). And of course it can lob missiles with fully selectable damage.

The Gila is good especially as it has a proper tanking bonus.

But in regards to the Ishtar, passive shield gives great tank but is just not nescessary and more drone upgrades in the mids means more applied drone DPS. You do not need to give almost all your slots over to a shield tank.

Thanks all for your thoughts and ideas.

I am going to give Alticus setup a try and see how it goes, thanks again and feel free to suggest more.
