honestly how long have you been playing
on a ship to ship comparrison you are right they do not are special and you need almost perfect engineering a gunnery skills to make them shine

The reduction in buffer tank bonus %s was a massive hit to the Amarr. The Maller and the Prophecy suddenly became... average. It's a shame, I loved those ships.

I don't see the issue with Amarr. I would absolutely train for their ships, but I've had to spend the last 4 years of my 4 year eve-life training to be an adequate Gallente pilot.

they have best looking ships in game
they have an awesome T2 line and a few good T1 ships aswell
best armor logi by far
amarr carriers, supers and titans are most populair and the dread is far from bad
they can instantly switch crystals to change damage type and range
with T1 ammo never have to buy ammo

Gallente and Amarr have the same basic problem, shield tanks are very FOTM right now and Gallente and Amarr can't shield tank for ****. Both races have 0% base EM resist on shields, a gigantic hole which you simply can't do anything about. Everyone knows to shoot EM at an Amarr or Gallente shield tank, it always works and there's nothing either race can do about it.

In addition, Amarr gets doubly screwed because their biggest racial resist bonus is towards explosive resist, and explosive resist sucks. Lasers and hybrids are locked into em/therm and kin/therm respectively, and caldari ships often have to give up a kinetic damage bonus if they want to shoot other damage types. There isn't a single ship in the game that locks its pilot into explosive damage.

Amarr can't shield tank at all because their shields have 0% base EM resist and 20% base thermal resist. Your shield tank has 1/4th the EHP of a Minmatar shield tank because their ships get 75% EM resist on their shields by default. Everyone knows to shoot EM at an Amarr shield tank, it always works and there's nothing you can do about it. Sure, your T2 hulls have 87.5% explosive resist before any modules at all, but everyone knows not to shoot explosive at Amarr and there isn't a single ship in the game that gets an explosive damage bonus or uses weapons that can only shoot explosive.

Amarr and Gallente would be good if people actually armor tanked in PvP, as their racial armor bonuses lead to balanced armor resists with no holes, but nobody armor tanks in PvP. You can't field a credible shield tank with a 0/20/62.5/87.5 em/therm/kin/exp resist profile. Minmatar on the other hand has a base 75/60/40/50 resist profile, there are no holes. Minmatar can slap invulnerability fields on their shield tanks and get the benefit of +30% to four resists without leaving any holes, thus getting a total of +120% from their module. Amarr and Gallente have to use an EM hardener to close their hole and only get 55% from their module.

Bottom line, if you're shooting at an Amarr shield tank, avoid explosive damage and you automatically do over double the damage that you would do against a Minmatar ship fitting exactly the same modules.
