This post announces the opening of Local Spike, a fresh EVE PVP blog with its fingers dipped into a few other games but a decisive EVE focus that runs down to the name, theming, and feature set. I have spent the last month of spare work time building the site up behind the scenes, fixing issues, and ensuring acceptable performance on mobile devices. Without further adieu, the information:

Web: http://local-spike.com
#tweetfleet: @LocalSpike
Twitch.TV: LocalSpike
E-MAIL: tips@local-spike.com

The Casting Call
I have done some private recruiting, and am in tentative talks with a few obnoxiously noncommittal individuals. In the meantime, I am pleased to announce a public recruiting drive. The site will need blog posters, video creators / editors, Twitch streamers, and a person or two (preferably European) to share the Twitter account to appease the Tweetfleet gods.

If you'd like to be a contributor and can write English well, send an in-game / forum mail to me with who you are, where you live, and what you do. Contributors are entitled to one 2GB IMAP4 e-mail address on the site and POP3 access to the tips inbox, plus sharing in any future formal incentives / rewards program.

A tentative list of preferred contributor backgrounds follows:

  • High-level Wormhole PVP pilots
  • Member / any level leadership of a major belligerent on either side of the CFC war for Fountain
  • Member of any PVP faction in Querious
  • Anyone involved in the HBC / Raiden collapse
  • Low-sec pirates with a reputation, or whose corps have one
  • Mercenaries, and not the console peasant type
  • Seasoned faction war pilots / commanders
  • A fleet commander who specializes in cloaky gangs / black ops work
  • A market PVPer. Manipulations, speculation, soft scamming, and business.
  • A few people with active 1600+ LoL accounts
  • A few experienced Dota 2 players
  • One or two solid GW2 PVPers

The list does not encompass everything we're looking for, it is simply a list of interesting personal circumstances, many of which are based heavily on current events. Also bear in mind that the site is a shared blog which hopes to bring together PVP events from all over New Eden. It is not a dumping ground for disclaimer-free alliance propaganda. Leaking us recordings of leadership meetings, speeches, and alliance updates is 100% kosher though, which brings us to the next section ...

Guest Posting
There is a guest posting program for those who want to submit privileged information or a one-off article / battle report. Guest posters do not (and will not) receive any compensation, and can choose to remain anonymous or be attributed. Would-be guest posters are encouraged to e-mail tips@local-spike.com or get in touch with ownership directly.

The Contest
Lastly, I'm not a graphics designer, nor are my friends to my knowledge. As such, I am running a contest for a graphics package (seamless background texture, header, logo, and favicon) worth one PLEX. See this post on the blog for more details.

Running the first live broadcast, let me know how it comes out.

ED: Redacted while I work on a few issues, including that horrible popping sound.

First set of YouTube videos are up, 401K vs Gallente militia. They're livestream-sourced with audio-swap due to issues with the originals. I play EVE in 3840x1080 too so there are slightly zoomed black bars. Let me know what you guys think.
