My source is the fact that both my alt and my friends main account have been warned for lighting a cyno and then getting bumped into a pos field. I dont see the difference in this case.

Just to clarify, warping at 100 to the sun center will still get you bumped at extreme speed. The sun is very big object

They would still be vulnerable in this instance, they just have to be probed out.. The activity that I heard was not allowed is intentionally coasting into a pos shield after lighting a cyno.

no because its impossible to warp to 100 of the sun center, you can only warp to a book mark near it, and if you warp to 100km from the bm then you would be 100km further from the point you get bumped at, depending on which direction you warp from of course =). I have a bookmark for Dodixie's sun if you want to play I'll sell it to you for 1 billion isk. The bookmark is 2km from bump point in a frigate, larger ships will be closer and get bumped warping to 0. It takes a good 15 minutes for an orca to stop after getting bumped, imagine what a freighter might do =). I can imagine the Rorqual mentioned in op took an hour to stop =).

if you want to know how to do it it is easy. one alighn yourself to a celestial that will make you travel thru the sun.
two right when you are about to go into sun make a bm. do this over and over till you get one that wont bounce you out.
simple tbh and been used for years.

There appears to be an organized effort on this forum that squashes creative thinking. So someone found a creative use for a game mechanic.....so what!

Try to be like this cyno guy and think outside your 1mm X 1mm box sometimes. The majority of this game is about discovery.

All game exploits could be justified as "creative thinking." How many exploits were fixed in the past? 100s of them. So unless you are willing to undo fixes for all the past exploits, it's not right to just dismiss this one.

Let CCP decide if this is a good thing for the game or not. If they say it's legit, fine, we'll all start using it


There are exploits and then there are exploits.

This doesn't sound game breaking, complex, requiring a team of people to find/execute or that it would confer any overt advantage.

In fact, if used to some effect, most likely it would result in needless losses on a fleet that attempted to use it to whatever advantage. Lets see, set probes to .50 au, set on sun, know deceleration rates, maths, scan, warp to....kill things. At most it's usefulness is as a curiosity. Though, I could be missing something. Could be people are just PO'd they can't kill the guy lighting the cyno....but geez, once observed....the rouse is up.

You can get to the centre of the sun without warping - he might not have been bumped out after lighting the cyno (it's possible the OP didn't have time to spot his ship before being bumped himself).

It's possible to actually fly towards a POS at extreme speed, light a cyno then let momentum carry you through the POS shields so you remain safe while your cyno is outside the POS.
With the talk of a moving cyno ship being an exploit, is this considered an exploit?

True.

The obvious question should be, if you can avoid a game mechanic penalty legally, why have the penalty at all?

Like people ejecting from their tech 3 ship in a lost fight. Anyhow, it is, as always, up to CCP to determine exploit, unintended game mechanic or fine to do. I would not bet on the last one though.

Its something that is used quite regularly. I actually used it to deploy supercaps against bigger entities a long time ago and easily get out without worrying about being bubbled :-P

Hmmm, Well when I tested I had a lot of plate and an MWD. Not sure what speed it would have been max. I'll have to have a play. Is the speed for a cyno thing new as I tested around 2 years ago.

Also is that yes, it would be an exploit to drift into a POS?

That change been in for 1-2 years or so as I can recall anyway. But it's still possible to glide into the POS (you just have to time the launch of the cyno close enough to glide inside).

while bumping is allowed, bumping a ship which light a cyno is considered an exploit if the purpose is to put said ship in a place it cannot be destroyed.

in a nutshell, the issue is not that the landing ship is bumped, and using this at one advantage, the exploit is by using a spot preventing the cyno from being destroyed.

we were remained of this recently while we bumped a cyno ship within pos bubble, and get petitioned over it.

this is also the reason why now, cyno cannot be activated while a ship is going faster than 500m/s; to prevent him to end it's course inside the pos bubble.

now, for those wondering how one could end up inside the sun, it happened to me once, while jumping on a cyno, i jumped late and cyno deactivated mid-jump.

as per game mechanics, i landed in the correct system but at a random spot.
my screen was full yellow, then i assumed i encountered a bug.

the second i moved my ship, i reached awesome incredible speed and landed at 0 on the sun, this is when i understood where i was in the first place.
