Extra Minerals

Hi guys,

I have just bought the BP's for the three amarr Battleships. Apoc. Geddy and Baddon. On the Bill of Materials page for the Apoc and Geddy, there is a list of 'extra mineral' needed. What are they for?

I am guessing that they may be for T2 production, as there is not a similer list for the Baddon, which as yet does not have a T2 version.

Thanks in advance

Extra materials are not subject to waste. You need them to manufacture in addition to the basic materials.

CCP tends to add them to pad the materials, as extra materials are not returned upon reprocessing. In the case of battleships, the padding was the result of tieracide.

They are also not affected by material efficiency research.

In general you should also be careful if you want to produce to market from BPOs with recnet additions of extra materials, i.e. almost all the tech1 blueprints. Often there is still a large stock of goods/ships produced i. Times without the extra materials up for sale, making it virtually impossible for you to sell the final product above production costs.

Extra materials are what you get on your BPO for CCP supposedly 'balancing' all the ships out. In the UK in RL 'extra materials' would be called a 'stealth tax'. In New Eden it's just another ISK sink. T1 frigates, cruisers, battlecruisers, battleships, and mining ships have all received this.......treatment. Next up for the dose are the T1 industrials and then onwards and upwards. Imagine extra materials and the resultant maybe forty percent increase in build cost on freighters or even titans! X

In addition the extra materials make production post 'rebalancing' inefficient and problematic at best. I personally don't think it should be done and hope they don't carry it through to the remaining ship classes.

I find it a pain in the butt, now I have to add all that data for my spreadsheets and making a ship I can't just quickly look, instead I have to either check the run or get the calculator out, its a complete pain...

When the going gets tough the Gankers get their CSM rep to change mechanics in their favour.

It's solution to a problem, but I can't see the current situation being a permanent one. I expect there will at least be some sort of cleanup done to them sometime after the tiericide is done.

Ok, just to let me get things straight in my head. When I put a Geddy or Apoc in to cook I need to make sure that I have enough mins to cover the listed and the extra, and no matter how much I ME the BP's the extra will not decrease.

Thanks for the info guys

That's where a database driven system works somewhat better than spreadsheet driven.

All the numbers are available from the SDE that CCP have released, and properly written, they update automatically on the import of the new data.

One of the reasons I wrote the blueprint calculator application, rather than messing with spreadsheets.

Woo! CSM XI!

By George I think he's got it!

Next lesson: The rain in Spain...

I updated my ships last weekend. It was a huge pain. Good thing I did though, as a few moments ago a small order was placed for 3.981b of ships.

As a newer player who had gotten interested in manufacturing I recently realized this added expense to my actual cost, and also realized there was little sense in continuing with manufacturing.

Yep yep. Wrote an app to do the SDE import and combine all the mats into one table. Pain to figure out but every patch I don't have to worry about doing much except running my app.

Everyone wants to build ships, so they're not a great thing to make even in normal conditions.

In hindsight my post should have had more psssshhhh
