Sometimes I Wonder Just How Stupid The Average Miner Is.

Especially after last night. So last night hoping to take part in a kill before I had to hit the sack came Manna from heaven. A war target enters system. Well get this he is in a Retriever, and goes straight to a belt to mine. Well there was eight of us in system Did the idiot in question even bother to check local. Obviously not. He gets pointed and we wait for everyone to get the chance to join in. Splat goes the barge. He logged so the pod instawarped away. A corpmate scans it down. We all then hop in to rookie ships to add insult to injury to kill the pod. Oh and I finally laid my first final blow. God sometimes I am ashamed of my mining past.

I try to be nice and mind my business just shooting lasers at rocks. There is just way too many asshats in New Eden for that to happen.

Well well.
First off, congrats on that 1st final blow of yours.

But please don't offend the "avarage" miner. Carebears are not stupid. The might be ignorant, naive or at least "not well versed in the art of PvP" P but they are not stupid...
Furthermore the character in question is not even a month old yet. So please, cut him some slack - give him a chance to make the same expiriences in EVE before judging him
After all, in two years he might have a better kill/ratio then 16% ;)

That was probably his first time making that mistake. You've taught him a valuable lesson that he will probably not soon forget that will go on to save many of his future ships.

There is a big difference between stupid and new. New is not yet understanding how the game works and not knowing what actions do and don't get you killed. Stupid has the knowledge and chooses to ignore it. I'm afraid you killed the former.

That being said, we all learn somehow, usually at the receiving end of someone else's volley.

Well he is a very slow learner. They killed another barge of his earlier in the day. Not to mention the other ships he has lost while mining or missioning during a war dec.

So, maybe *this* miner is slow or a bit dim.

From both sides of the coin, I can say that most miners learn how to avoid being an easy target. It's just that there are SO MANY of them! If the percentages of idiots mining is similar to the rest of the population of EVE, the sheer numbers of miners will mean that the absolute numbers of dummies remains quite high. Same applies to missioneers, haulers, industrialists, etc., too...

I've been working a single 0.5 sec system for about a month - when I log in, most of 'em dock-up. But there are always a few who either think they're tougher than me (and some really are), or just don't know the drill. I've not yet nailed the same one twice, so clearly some miners can learn.

Suicide gank. The one and only time that has happened to me. Was bound to happen one day. Happened while I was considering giving up on mining. Not a single Indy corp I have been in had enough people willing to PvP to make undocking during a war dec worthwhile. As in not complete suicide.

I've heard of some bot scripts that just logout when faced with aggression. Perhaps you killed a botter.

Remember that whenever you have a bad day in EVE, the correct reponse is "Thank you CCP, may I please have another?"

I have seen some very, very stupid miners.

Fortunately, idiots in EVE are like asteroids - they are renewable resources.

lol so funny.

hey guys ill mine in my crystal set because it helps me tank rats in high sec.

You should really just look at yourself at how stupid you are for mining with a crystal set.

You should really just look at yourself at how stupid you are for being so poor that losing crystals cannot be shrugged off as an annoyance.Bear

Nerfing High-sec is never the answer. It is the question. The answer is 'YES'.

Heh! Truth.

Just popped a Covetor that was AFK in an Ice Anom... Motored about the place looking at targets, most were tanked pretty solid... But this guy? Pop! Was almost ten minutes before he popped up in Local to acknowledge the kill.

Hello? There was a miner in Local spamming solid anti-gank builds... some folks just can't take good advice, I guess.

WTF makes mining with implants stupid? Surely PvPing with them is just as stupid if not worse. Hell after all you are going out there with the intention of putting yourself in harm's way. You don't always save the pod.

Implants aren't stupid, but losing your pod in highsec to a gank (excluding smartbombs, limited stock and time offer, exclusions, terms and conditions apply Cool) is. You were either asleep or AFK if you failed to get your pod out.

But flaming miners for "being stupid" when you've been equally (or more so) yourself is somewhat lawl.

1 kill under your belt and you're calling other players stupid?

Being new to PvP you're about to do alot of supid things. Asssuming you go against actual pvpers rather than miners; you will have fits that make people shake their heads indisbelief, and piloting errors that make their eyes explode in astounishment.

I hope they show you more courtsey than you are showing some idiot miner.
