I really like my missiles and was wondering how to get more dps? I have trained som skill levels at heavy missiles and such and I have 2 missiles rigs, more damage and "cooldown"

Level 5 skills (no way around it, even with rigs and other methods to boost it), especially Rapid Fire, as the worst thing about missiles that affect DPS is the long flight time. Faster you can fire = more missiles incoming = more damage. Other skills ensure you'll hit the target harder, and can hit more agile ships.

Also don't forget skilling up those drones. Level 3 missions you'll learn how important they become, especially handling the many smaller ships that can hurt. Missile boats supplement their slower DPS with drones. Get Scout Drones + Drone Interfacing to level 5 pronto.

And another thing, don't forget EFT. Experiment with fits. Lower skills you'll usually will use the rigs to supplement the lack of defense skills, which is why it's a waste to use the things like the Calcification rig for extra DPS, as you need to survive getting swarmed (and running out to a station to recover shields or repair is time inefficient). You'll never know if your mission will escalate (lost my Raven in a level 4 due to a horrible escalation with over *10* webbers [lost count after that], the freaking room was completely full of red +s, with the little webbing suckers faster than I can speed away...so much for that mission walkthrough of only 4 of them).

Stop using a Navy Scorpion for L2's and switch to something like a Caracal with Rapid Light Missile Launchers.

Caracal works for lvl3s too... even.

Is a fail fit, I'm surprised u didn't put reinforced bulkheads on it, after all the raven never has enough hull

AB caracal with rapid light launchers for lvl 2s, put all BCUs in lows, rest of mids with shield extenders and one rat type hardener

Drake and HMs for lvl 3s, similar fit to your caracal, drake can also be used for the easier lvl 4s, once u have more skills

Cruise raven or cruise navy scorp for lvl 4s, with micro jump drive and sensor booster with lots of BCUs in lows for lvl 4s, again skills are important here.

Was just about to say something along those lines. And you actually do get a slight boost from some navy hulls as a low SP toon. You don't get better DPS with the normal drake over the navy drake, for example, until you train up the battlecruiser skill and supporting ones. So if you must have bling, try the navy drake with HML's for lvl1-4 and your BS with cruise launchers for lvl 4's.

I prefer a prop, either AB, MWD or MJD on a long range missile BS. This helps a low SP toon that can't tank well yet. You won't need a lot of tank if you're not getting hit, which you won't be at your optimal. You do need to get there, though, with speed. Rats are slow so AB is enough. I also don't get how anyone can stand traveling from room to room at 150-200 m/s...you don't need to be cap stable, you just have to know how to manage your cap.

As for missile DPS, explosion radius/speed is a big factor on anything smaller than battleship rats. The biggest threats are the warp scrambling and webbing frigates that tackle you and allow the other rats to get in range. Everything else, you can eventually kill no matter what your DPS is. I suggest fitting some rigor rigs to your BS. You'll get through missions a lot faster too. DNI doesn't need rigors, just a target painter, so rigs can be for damage and cap.

Fill up the lows with BCU II's on most missile setups.

Im flying a drake now on lvl 3's and have a dps of 190 (31.6 per launcher) and im struggling at some missions, Its not like im in danger of being destroyed (yet) but some ships that has shield booster takes me a loooong time to take down, I often run out of missiles before I can get them :S

190dps is a bit low for a drake, u may want to fit some BCUs (ballistic control units) on some of your lows, get caldari battlecruiser to lvl 4 (helps with the tank too) and read mission intel (I know people tend to skip this) and get rid of the omnitank and just harden for the main type of damage the rats do

Buffer tanks (like large shield extenders on a caracal or drake) instead of active (ships with local reps/shield boosters) make mission a lot less of a pain in the ass too, when u have the skills for it.

Navy ships now give u better real (not paper) at low SP, but are a big investment and not fun to loose, on the other hand, standard ships can do just as much dps now, can be insured, so u worry less about loosing them and can play with fits more. ie, get your fit right on a standard ship, then go for the navy one if u must.

Try 3-4 BCUIIs, a calefaction rig or two, and of course scourge ammo...If you're talking about killing shield boosting frigates/Dessie's, try the rigor rigs or the DNI, and make sure it's the right ammo for the rat. You should be doing better dps than that soon, just keep training.

I already had 3 BCU and 2 rigs, one damage and one rate of fire.

I can start training for BCUll :P

I started reading this thread with high hopes.

Since when did GD become a fountain of help and friendly advice?

Nobody even pointed to the correct sub-forum!

Relish this moment OP - there won't be many like it!

Aaaaaaand relax.
