Hi there!

Im running eve through parallels and win7 home ed.

i can hear all sounds ingame and i hear ppl talk in evevoice but i cant talk myself - no matter which button i set as "push to talk". i just c a quick "blink" on the echo bar when i release the set button.

teamspeak works well.

Do you have the sound devices set correctly? i.e. is the microphone saying "Default" or is it actually using the microphone you are using such as "Built-in Microphone"?

You might have to set the microphone definite instead of leaving it up to Parallels to detect.

In the Mac menu for Parallels under Devices there is a menu entry called Sound and under that there is an entry called Input Device. If you select "Built-In Microphone" or whatever audio device is acting as your microphone. If you leave it as default it will depend entirely on the audio settings in Mac OS X in the System Preferences.

Possibly the easier way to try this is to make sure the VM is shut down and go to Hardware in the VM configuration panel. i.e. right click on the virtual machine and go Configure. Under the hardware tab the sound options should be there so change to whatever your microphone is.

It may or may not work but give it a try.

This is not a criticism, but why do you use eve through parallels?

I recently have had access to my roommates alienware desktop. And I really don't loose any functionality playing on my mac with osx vs playing on my windows win 7 version. Now if you add the extra resources that paralells would use wouldn't the performance be even faster if the use the eve client CCP set up for the mac.?

Yes, currently there is a problem with the icons on ships and blueprints not showing properly, and yes I know that eve mac client is actually running through wine, but to me there is actually no performance difference between eve wine and eve windows.

I love my Macbook Pro and the OSX series, but I have come to hate the iProducts like iPhone, iPad, etc. So am I considered an "Apple Fanboy" or not?

I mostly use the Mac version but Odyssey has dumb issues like not being able to see the ships images in the Info panels etc.

Also the Mac version IS the Windows version it's just running under Cider which actually introduces some issues and I suspect is the issue with the display problem above.

Parallels however is actually a better option because instead of translating Windows code into UNIX code (Cider doesn't translate into Mac OS code but uses UNIX and therefore doesn't gain any benefits from Mac OS X) what it does is create a set of drivers in the Windows VM which translate into the Mac OS X system and so makes great use of things like Grand Central etc. As such it actually does play faster in a Parallels VM than the Mac version which does a lot of on the fly translation which creates a performance hit.

Hmmm, I might try parallels again with eve, or bootcamp to see if I can get a better experience. But like I said, I didn't see any difference in performance so I don't know.

Hmm i still cant get this mic to work..

i do see it work inside windows when i go to control panel and sounds.

ive also tried to rename it to microphone instead of native language

windows firewall is turned off so that aint the problem....

im running out of options to try here so i really really would like some more suggestion/help in this matter..

i was hoping to try to fc a small gang but as long as i cant talk this is a massive problem ;)

noone hears anything when i try to push the button and in the echo test it only blinks a bit when i release it and i can hear a sound in a micro sec...

What sort of device are you using?

USB or a mic connected to the inline microphone adapter?

Don't forget to check that the Audio device you are using is set correctly within the Audio tab of the settings window within Eve itself.

been using a standard earplug with mic attached.

ive also tried plugging that out and just screamed into the built in mic.

inside eve i have 2 options for speaker in the audio tab of esc menu, either "default" or "parallells microphone" - tried both.

any other suggestions?

and tyvm for trying to solve this issue :()

Hmm it seems it might work if i hold applekey+ click and set the ptt key to middle mouse. But this really is way 2 much hassle as i use laptop and the touchpad.

Suggestions for if i can map middlebutton to something else?

I vaguely remember something similar using the Mac client now that I think of it.

Parallels remaps Windows keys to Mac keys so for example you can use Command C instead of Control C in Windows for copy. I suspect this is what is going on here.

I have to admit that I've not used voice chat much. Let me see if I can test it out tonight and I'll let you in on what we did.

Try changing the middle mouse button to something like right alt or whatever.

I'm not sure about in Parallels because Windows doesn't really use keyboard shortcuts to any great deal like on the Mac but on the Mac if you press Command + Left Click that works like the middle mouse button.

Try that and see if it works.

Remember Command not CTRL. CTRL + Left Click will bring up the context menu.
