Noobed up a wormhole. how screwed am I?

So I went exploring for the second time last night with much less success than my first attempt.

On my first attempt I was able to make it all the way to the EVE gate and back, unmolested! That was an amazing ride.

For my second big jaunt out in space (post intro quests) I decided to do some scanning. I found a wormhole to unknown space that looked healthy so i jumped through. On the other side I found a bunch of sites to visit, which I did. That is where my adventure came to a quick end as the site I chose was full of NPC bad guys. I was toasted almost immediately, not a big surprise considering what I was flying. To my dismay I wasn't able to find the wormhole (I didn't make a bookmark either though I dont think that would have helped), I'd need to scan for a way out and my ship and probes were now gone.

So, please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think my only recourse is to self-destruct.

Thanks,

Case

yup, 2 options, you either get killed by the hole dwellers, or you do harakiri...

It would have helped, unless the WH you entered through had closed.

Self destructing your pod isn't as drastic as it seems and you can get back on track in no time. At least you learned from your experience!

If you are stuck in a wormhole without a ship, yes indeed I advise would pod-expressing (self-destructing) yourself back home. You will lose whatever implants you have, but as a new player you hopefully don't have anything plugged in that is worth a billion isk or something like that. I hope?

If you remember the name of the system you were in when you found the wh, ask in the help channel. Someone may be willing tto try to scan the wh down again. Worst case they scan the wh then kill your pod. Also if you use the directional scanner and notice another capsuleer in system ask in local for help. They might help you or might kill you.

I contemplated asking for a pick up, but figured I wouldn't have the cash or would just get podded, as you suggested.

I don't have any worthy implants, easily replaceable stuff.

It was a good learning experience, thanks for the tips!

Always bookmark the wormhole. Its a Noob mistake not to but we all do it, I have lived in wormholes for a long time and only last week warped off without checking I had the bookmark upto date.

It's not been nice, but thanks for using lube

You have learnt a painful lesson, and 'splat taxi' will probably be the only way home

First rule of WH exploration is always BM your ride home before you do anything. Even a vet like Max occasionally gets caught out in a WH system and needs to get out of 'Dodge' fast, even when he still has his ship, so having the 'ride home' booked saves time and often as not trouble.

If you haven't already blown yourself up. I can help you out....not the first time I have helped a lost soul out of a wh. I lived in a WH for a few months a couple of years ago...we had a stranded pilot find his way to our pos (outside of firing range of course) and he asked for help. I fleetd him up and warped to the exit, told him to warp to me and he exited unharmed.

Most times people self-d and that's okay, but at least ask in local if anyone can help. Worst they can do is pop you...which you were considering anyway. But there are good people out there that will lend a hand when asked. Just ask!!

What I was trying to get at is asking for help had no downside worse than you self destructing. I should have mentioned the potential upside: making new friends. Lots of people have helped me during my time and some are now my friends.
