But what me real bothered is the assumption old code and old design are obsolete per Definition.

this is... a bad thing?

Indeed it is, it is for improvements, it is for game stability when you start thinking about the awesome work that is TiDI, players able to shoot each others face for over 2800 in the same systems (welp when CCP thinks about reinforcing zdat node anyway)

It is for game graphics quality and so on the list is long but I'm not even a special computer nerd, just a rather not bad self maid assembler for who building wacco computers is just an hobby.

If it becomes a significant bottleneck it is obsolete. I think the devs have stated that the majority of server load is due to session changing. Separate systems also feel unnatural imo. Space is not divided into little spheres nor grids.

By 2015 market sales of tablets will surpass both PCs and Laptops combined. This is the future of computing and eve in its current state will run on it.

Keep in mind that just because everyone and their grandma purchases a tablet does not mean everyone and their grandma wants to play eve. The percentage of people buying those tablets with serious gaming in mind is likely a lot lower than those buying desktops and laptops. Also most gamers wouldnt be buying new desktops already put together for them, but instead upgrading their rig. The sales figures mean less with this in mind.

Infinity is an actual existing engine. It procedurally generates a single universe zone based on an initial seed. Theres no session changes other than rendering other players, static objects as they appear to other players.

EVE has its own charm EXACTLY because it is an old universe, single old universe.
EVE II wont have that, not for the first few years, so i dont want EVE II.

We see things from a players perspective. However a game success (or fail) is not simply related to his "quality".
WOW is a mediocre, fancy game, an EQ for dummies, simplified mechanics and standard graphics; It was an huge success due to market elements. Blitz was good (or lucky) to foresee the market direction and needs at that time and to match the users demand.

I can assure you that high end pvp in wow is incredibly hard and you wouldnt stand a chance in an arena vs a high end team no matter how much you practiced.

I currently run 3 EVE accounts at once and have no hotkeys mapped (admit i do use about 6 or so premapped keys but really compared to what is required to operate a wow account this is nothing). Wow requires a ton more inputs per minute than EVE so much so that moving from WoW to EVE you feel like somebody told you to go play soccer in a pool of waist high mud.

The UI in wow is so much more advanced than EVE that when i first started playing EVE i felt like i was doing command line programming not playing a 2013 video game.

And it's Blizz not Blitz and the reason their game is so much more advanced than EVE is because they realize something EVE devs either dont or dont care about and that is that the vast majority of video game players are casuals and farming casuals for money by catering to them sufficiently is just good business, its not genius or being lucky, it's actually quite basic.

And I'll answer the incoming knee-jerk respondent now so as to save having to post a second time:

"So why dont you still play wow if it's so great?"

Because for me 8 years of approximately 13 hours a day playing a single title is about as much as i care to play even though it is an outstanding game.

So, until Blizz comes out with another hot title i'll play EVE as a placeholder game because as a chronic-casual to coin a phrase here i prefer pve and EVE isnt very pve player friendly but still a decent, if antiquated game.

Yawn,  I'm right as usual. The predictability kinda gets boring really.

Lol no I don't think it does at all. Im always polite and try to be constructive in my posts. How about you? :)

Oh, fair enough. It does.

As for me, yeah, I'm well aware I can be a bit of a jerk to people who:
a) post badly thought through suggestions that would adversely affect the game as a whole
b) post suggestions designed to make things easier for them and harder for other people (unbalancing suggestions aimed at personal gain)
c) posts which ask for development time or finances to be removed from EVE and put into some doomed-to-failure project
d) posts which continue the same tired demands/requests even after being given a weight of evidence proving them wrong/foolish/stupid
e) posts which are designed to disparage or argue for the closure EVE, the game we play and love.

You're guilty of c & e.

However, I'm not a jerk to people who post sensible suggestions or those who are able to alter their perspectives based on feedback from others.

I and many others have explained why a) the game isn't the same as when it was released and b) why asking CCP to build an EVEII wouldn't be in CCP's or our best interests. I merely wanted to know whether you were aware that you were flogging a dead horse. You're clearly oblivious to it so I'll leave you to it. You're not going to get anywhere with this. Lol

And to the OP i do believe if they migrated pilots and belongings from EVE to EVE 2 that a lot of shortcomings of EVE could be fixed almost assuredly easier than trying to salvage EVE as it stands today.

But....

Given that EVE is now serving two masters CCP and Sony i dont see good things ahead for EVE no matter what CCP does with it now, as the old saying goes you cannot serve two masters and that is exactly the position into which CCP has now placed EVE.

Yawn,  I'm right as usual. The predictability kinda gets boring really.

I knew there was something fluffy and cuddly about you. I've played WOW. I did it when I was doing a particularly mentally intensive job because it doesn't require any thought. It's the sort of game that you can switch off and play because there simply isn't anything complicated in it. The player interactions aren't complicated. Understanding any of the game mechanics isn't complicated. The PVP is extremely formulaic. All there is to it is [hit thing, get thing] rinse repeat to get the same purple crap everyone else has so you can be on a level with them in PVP. There is no metagame to speak of, no politics, no mass combat. It is a completely different game and trying to make comparisons between WOW and EVE is akin to trying to compare naughts&crosses with chess.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that WOW isn't a good game. It has appeal. It's very pretty, it's very easily accessible and player friendly (it cuddles you and tells you everything will be ok) which is why it got such a huge (albeit currently dwindling) population.

I know WOW, I played it from the european release for about 3 years, and mostly of the time in an end-game guild.
The amount of imputs or how much you need to tap on the keyboards doesn't equal to complexity or in depth mechanics. WOW is an easy game in the sense of easy to access and master, even for people with no previous game experience.

They didn't invent anything new in term of game setup, they just reqorked EQ concepts making them more simple, fruible and friendly. The game itself is mediocre, their cleverness was not in creating a good game but mostly in understantanding the the massive market needs. Nothing bad in this, it's also a merit.

I'm not going to discuss game complexity and deepth, there's no viable EVE-WOW comparasion here. Was to say as a game success or fail often are not directly caused by innate game "qualities", perfect coding, advanced graphic, good mechanics and so on but by "external" factors (f.i. the market demands).

IMO the only time CCP should start working on an EVE 2 is when the current code and game engine no longer holds up for what they want or need to be able to do.
