Hi, my name is Vincent Van Bro, and I'm offering the denizens of MD a service that, to my knowledge, has never been offered before in Eve Online.

I'm good at No Limit Hold'em. I've got three accounts, and I pay for my plexes each month solely with poker winnings. I never even have to undock to pay for my accounts, it's the best feeling in the world.

So why am I telling you this? Because I'm offering my poker experience to you.

Eve Online Hold'em (EOH) runs tournaments all day, every day. These tournaments are bought in with isk, and paid the same way. The most common tournament is the Double Through, where 6 men enter, and three men leave with twice what they bought-in with. For example, a 54m DT pays out 100m to the top three finishers (There's a small "rake", or the banker's cut, to pay the kind souls who volunteer their time to arrange the games)

EOH poker has been serving New Eden for ages, but no one has ever offered a wide-scale staking service like this. Basically, all you have to do is give me isk. I'll use that isk to play poker. When I win, you get the profits. All I get from it is a small fee (10% of winnings) for my services.

Here's how it works:

  1. Send me an evemail with your character name, the amount of your stake, and the date
  2. Send the isk to my corp, Van Bro Poker Brokers, with your name and the date in the reason field.
  3. Sit back and wait for your winnings.

It's that simple.

  • Van Bro Poker Brokers not responsible to repay losses incurred during normal poker play. This is a risk that all poker players take. No one wins every game.
  • All winnings will be paid immediately following completion of a tournament.
  • Tournaments will be played on weekends, and some weekday nights (Eastern US time)
  • All tournaments played will be 200m buy-in or more, to maximise profits.

It sounds to me like you want to play poker all the time while incurring no risk. How will you prove you did or did not win? How will people know exactly how much ISK multiple people have given you? For instance, i could give you 200m and Jimmy the Noob could give you 200m. You then play a poker match for 200m and tell me and Jimmy, "oops I lost that one, sorry!". Even if you show the logs of you losing (which i don't think is possible), there is no way to guarantee that money was one investors or anothers.

Other than all the above, it sounds interesting Cool .

Didn't someone try this before, failed and never paid the investors back?

That would be "succeeded" and yes iirc, it did.

Do you have any history with online poker outside of EOH? Pokerstars, Full Tilt, Cake etc?

If so a hand history could help you get staked. Let people see how you play, whether you make the right EV moves, etc.

If not, you'd probably want to record at least a small sample of your games to prove you're as good as you say you are.

yeah, then he paid of his house with the cash he got for the isk he stole...

@OP: If you are that wildly successful poker player, why would you share youre winnings? You must have some isk on the side by now, no?

I also pay my subs through EOH and use it as a main source of income. However with the low buy ins (28-210 mill isk) and you being only able to double your buy in i never thought it was worth trying to get someone to stake me. Honestly i would rather stake myself as its more profitable. Maybe getting a stake for the big ESOP which i think is around a 1 billion isk buy in would be something worth asking for isk for. But as an avid EOH player/supporter i do not see a benefit in getting staked for the normal DT tournaments.

How about I play poker through my own character and with my own ISK, and you just tell me what to do? Then if I win I give you a cut of the profit.

If you're that good at poker, why are you playing for ISK? There's plenty of options to play for cash online.

These are my favorite threads, been around forever. Just like the commercials about investing in shares.

Starts with:

"I am so successful, etc,...."

And ends with:

"I am going to share my success with you lucky(ahem!) investors"

None of these people really need this money of course. It is a public service.

The big question:

If you are successful why do you need investors?
Surely keeping 100% of profits is better than 90%.

I don't know if anyone else did it after me, but I know I was pretty damn good at it.

With that said, I do not endorse this product and/or service.

Edit: Oh and if you fancy a longer read, check out the actual investment thread as it shows how it got going as well as some good discussions.
