Smart, if rather obvious, way of flooding imgur with images of beautiful EVE locations...

Folks, for tier 1 we will make an exception on the uncloaked ship rule since some of you had completed the event before we noticed that rule was missing from the blog. For tiers 2 and 3, you will need an uncloaked ship.

Does this exception also cover the "Your ship must be visible" part? Because I made one or two of my screenshots via "Look at" before you edited in this rule.

Yeah we will make an exception for that for tier 1.

How fast/slow will we get the prizes after the submission ?

No prizes will be given out until the entire event is over.

I'm assuming the later parts will take contestants into low or even null sec, is there any ruling on being cloaked in the screenshot?

Oops, I knew there was something we forgot.

Your ship should be decloaked and visible in the screen shot.

I've updated the rules.

LOL, well... this just got a lot more dangerous.

wonder what kind of kills the pirates are getting at location #2, nothing like knowing where free targets are.

I've been there twice already and no pirates in sight.

Since it is the first time they are holding such a competition you can expect things to be a little chaotic. Can you find any other photography competition held under the same conditions and environment? If you can, some of the rules of that competition might be useful to CCP, make sure you link it here.

What about for those of us who already took all the screenshots (especially zoomed-out so as much as possible fits on the screen). Do we have to make the trip again?

EDIT: Ignore post, didn't read ahead :(

So the grand prize is totally random? No selection by the quality of the screenshots?
Will you chose "the best" screenshots out of all submissions and show them publicly with the author name?

The pirates who live in Seyllin really suck at this game, so you guys are pretty safe.

Just suggestion, but wouldn't it be better to set imgur album layout to "Blog layout" instead of "Vertical" as recommended in devblog?
In "blog layout" all images and their titles displayed on one page at once, without any need of scrolling through previews.

The group 1 anyway had only one of the ten in low sec.

I can't help but think this is going to be mighty good fun for the gankers in the universe. How soon before the tears start rolling as highsec players wander aimlessly and dangerously into our beloved low sec and null sec play zones.

As they decloak they will be offering themselves as a token to the foolishness that is uninvited infringements upon places they are not supposed to be, that is, until they have paid the right price for safe transit.

Come one come all, snappers are all invited for a safe passage through all the nastiest of places, for a small uninteresting fee, of course.

If I have to take pictures of a site for this contest, I am supposed to be there. It is your right to disagree of course, but you might become surprised at the resourcefulness of some people not living in Low or null-sec....Cool

Here I used to have a sig of our old Camper in space. Now it is disregarded as being the wrong format. Looking out the window I see one thing: Nothing wrong with the format of our Camper! Silly CCP......

I'm excited about this. And I really hope that this first group is meant to be the training wheels segment. It would be great if, first off, some (more) of the sites required traveling to low/null/wspace, and, secondly, if there was a bit of a scavenger hunt aspect. Some examples of appropriately challenging targets for the second and third group:

Kruul's Pleasure Garden
Deserted Starbase Storage Facility
Clone Soldier Negotiator
Wolf-Rayet
EVE Gate (obvious, but the low-sec chokepoint on the way there will make for fun times as pirates try to prey on camera-toting tourists!)
Sleeper Sirius turret
Fort Kumar
The Titan wreck in C9N-CC
Two navy frigates from opposing factions engaged in combat
A Gallente Large Stargate with a Lava planet in the background

Also, it would be excellent if there was some prize for actual BEST screenshot. I understand the impossible task of judging the tens of thousands of screenshots you will be getting, but maybe let the community vote and award a couple of PLEX or a pirate cruiser as a People's Choice award. To make for prettier screenshots, you could allow that the UI be hidden so long as it is a (near) perfect match for a submitted UI-visible screenshot.

All that said, this is an excellent idea. Thank you.

I recommend using Google, EVElopedia, or the wonderful EVE Travel blog to help speed your exploration along.

Yeah, that helps a lot.

As for the Low-Sec danger...not everyone from High-Sec is oblivious to danger or doesn't know how to navigate Low or Nul...

And I'm sure there are going to be some really creative ways of getting that little unlocaked covert-ops frig into pictures now
