This. The prevalance of suicide ganking is a natural player response to wardecs being so easily dodged, and NPC corps being a way for the obscenely risk averse to stick their heads in the sand and pretend like they are playing a single player game.

It's a consequence of those two mechanics having yet to be fixed, so that they aren't used to attempt to be immune to your fellow players.

Well.. Maybe it was intentionally designed this way to let people play the game in different ways, no? :o

Pretty sure it doesn't say on the box that everyone has to line up to be wardecced and ganked for your personal amusement.

Yep, and those different ways include you being a punching bag. Welcome to the low end of the Darwin scale.

It's funny you should bring up the darwin scale when talking about suicide ganking :p

But as another remark, I will tell you how to really hurt a miner. Jump in a hulk, go to his belt and mine the **** out of the 'roids he's already mining. It'll severely cripple his profits and he can't do anything about it as you're playing the game by his rules. Slapping on a tank won't do him any good.

Now obviously you wouldn't do that, even though it would be the most effective way to reach your goals of extorting people (although of course it's just an excuse to be a ****, I know :p), because you don't like to play that way.. Likewise he doesn't want to play your way.

Notice I'm not saying miners shouldn't fit tanks, it's all in relation to the dude saying the game should be fixed so he could freely gank miners without getting popped by concord, as that's apparently what the game is meant to be about.

Where was it written that anyone in this thread wanted to gank miners without Concord intervention? In fact, you're the only one who has brought up Concord thus far, not including myself. Although, you're half right with your last sentence, I'll help connect the dots. Eve online is a PvP centered game. That's it.

Yes, you described a very mild, beary form of PvP by mining the rocks someone is already mining. It pisses off that person, they'll eventually rage about it, make mistakes, and over time will cost the player money, etc. However, that's a long and drawn-out task, where a gank will rip hundreds of millions of ISK away within seconds.

I read an earlier post of yours in this thread leaning toward the question of why harass/gank miners. With skills, the right strategy and Corp/friends reimbursement policy you can make a profit from ganking Exhumers. Not as great as it used to be, but still. Plus the tears. Hell, most pirates can just live off them tears.

Quoted for you Starfox :P

I simply assumed this talk about hiding in NPC corps, is a reference to not being able to wardec them.. and as such you can't kill them without getting concorded. Of course I may be missing what else it is they're hiding from.

Oh gotcha. Yeah ganking definitely can help with those who drop Corp to avoid a wardec. I have a habit of referring back to small gang ganking for profit :P
