Soo as a noob i know I shouldn't really be flying one ,as proven by the fact that that that my first one went up in flames, an apocalypse, lost to a gate camp
( notice how I'm preparing to lose another one and ,not whineng about it) I'm on my second one now and have it setup as a sniper, which
is fine, it gets the missions done ,I'm aware of its limitations and that's all I ask of it.

Iv a low skill set for now but am currently training for Tec2 mods and have a pretty good idea for what I want,
I am looking at an abbadon for a mid-range brawler(PvP) for corp asset defense/retribution .currently training for beam specialization as they suit my playstyle and who dosent like dps projection.
As a said, will lose it,that's fine but I'd like to generate a bit of discussion on the toppic of battle ships in general before investing in another. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated .
Also ,how did you lose your first battle ship?

Ships & Modules seems like the right place to talk about ship losses, but in fact it is not. Try General Discussion. This part of the forum is for discussion on a particular module or a ship, how to fit a ship, how modules work, etc..

I have a feeling that you could also try the Crime and Punishment forum as there are always many good pilots willing to listen to what makes others tick, what they love and hate, and how they felt about a loss.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

<--- Crime and Punishment plsTwisted

There's nothing worse than an EVE player, generally considered to be top of the food chain in the MMO world, that cannot smacktalk with wit and coherency.

fair enough, was looking for advice on fitting an abbadon as a mid-range brawler(PvP) as for the story bit , I'm curious as to how they usually end up as slag so that I may attempt to avoid walking into the same situation.

It is pretty easy and since you are not starting with frigate PvP. Simply fit it with lots of expensive stuff and cross your fingers.

You can tweak the lows to find the balance of gank and tank you're looking for, but this is a solid fit (might need some tacklers though, this is slow as hell). DON'T GO BEAMS, GO PULSES WITH SCORCH L. Now off to C&P with ya.

You want to give him some drones and at least one heavy neut or else he will literally die to the first frigate that comes along.

You're the one who wanted me to put officer mods on it/

OP: swap out the disruptor for scram, use a flight of warrior IIs and a flight of ec-600s. OR just fly in a fleet like you're supposed to.

Yes, I do. Maybe we can talk him into getting a mining Titan. It is bigger, much more expensive and can do a lot of things.

I lost my apoc to a hotdropper in null Roll. I thought i'd risk trying to clear a sancha hub for bounties. The dude appeared at the hub must have warped to 100 cos he was right next to me!

Anyway i panicked and ran for the gate instead of the station (facepalm) he was already at the gate waiting and jumped through as i landed and jumped myself.

Other side of the gate and he was just over 10km off i think but i doubted i could hit him effectively if he started orbiting so I held cloak and started asking for help on ts.

My buddies were coming but not fast enough. Cloak broke after 30seconds and i was immediatley scrammed and webbed.

I started firing with conflag and scored a few hits but then the guy must have lighted his cyno or something cos several ships appeared out of thin air Shocked

One of his buddies neuted me to **** whilst the others laid down some nasty dps.

I cant remember for the life of me what ship the first guy was in. it was a frigate that had bonuses to webs and scram range or something i think.

the dude had to warp off before his mates could finish me which made me slightly happier. Also my buddies got my wreck so i got some mods back lol

love this game

+1 for brawling with a sniper weapon
+1 for trying to fit 8 Tach 2 beams on an abbadon and expecting to fit something else

I'm glad to hear you enjoy the pvp aspects of the game! Some advice: like I said, use pulses with scorch for range, imperial navy multis for dps (conflag is ok if your cap can handle it and the target is webbed and not too small compared to you); battleships dont really shine until you have all the support skills at IV or V; don't solo in abaddon, it's just too limiting. Sounds like you ran into some recons, arazu and pilgrim at least. If so, that means his buddies were probably cloaked. Go find the killmail and you can check what they were in.

Edit: wait a minute ur not op...

Op, for eve PvP battleships are best fit by doctrine. That is if you are in a place to use a battleship someone with years and years of technical know how will have designed it for your fleet. Snowflake battleships are a waste of time and isk in 99% of cases.

If you want the punch of a bs on a hull with a prayer of survival look into the ABC's. They are made specifically for this job.

A solo battleship will get eaten alive in any number of amusing ways.

he's not but I appreciate the feedback anyway.
And I do rather find it rather enjoyable, currently in the middle of loosing as many ships as I can afford in the name of learning,
simply put, I'm flying one cos I enjoy it, not cos its practical.
The plan is to have 3-5 of my mate's around aswel (can't spell I know , sorry). Small gang stuff really.
which of the 3rd party site's would Offer the most useful killmail?

Try eve-kill.net.

If a kill was made during a war will you be able to look up the killmail in game by going to the corp info of the war parties and by searching the war reports.

I lost my first battleship by going afk in a mission with the repper off.

I had 4 faction mods fitted.

They all dropped.
