Ishkur and Ishtar drone bay bonus should go

It just seems like they ran out of bonuses by the time they thought of this. Couldn't the drone bay size stay as it would be at lvl 4 or 5 and figure something else in to it? Maybe a drone tracking and range bonus like the Dominix. Maybe CPU reduction for drone upgrades per level.
There's gotta be a better alternative than a magical tumor in the ship that grows when your smarter. Also lookong at cargo bonuses in industrials, but that's not my area.

It encourages people to max out the skills. If they didn't do that, you'd have fewer reasons to spend the time to do so.

I'm all for encouraging people to max out skills, it just seems like for a bonus, drone bay size is a little odd.

Drone bay size bonuses are no more odd than bonuses to cargo or ore hold capacity. As for encouraging people to "max out the skills," well, the bonuses don't necessarily do that very well. The ishtar's bonuses might be useful in extreme situations, but for run of the mill work heavy assault ship 1 can, and often does, work as well as heavy assault ship 5.

Likewise the optimal bonus with the drone bay bonus on the ishkur is kind of lost on blaster fits. Yes, every little bit helps, but optimal? Meh. Short of a snipe fit that's one of the few bonuses on hybrid platforms that are fairly "safe" to ignore.

Doubling the drone bay is great and all, but the worm gets it for free and after the "tiericide" some T1 frigates, not to mention destroyers, are packing larger drone bays tha the ishkur's base bay size.

All things considered neither ships' T2 bonuses are the sort that scream "train me to level 5 nao!111!!!!" to me. Level 3 for sure, maybe level 4, but not level 5. From that perspective the whole idea of saying that the bonuses are as they are to encourage people training (heavy) assault ship to level 5 is just silly to me.

They likely will go the way of the Dominix rebalance once Tiercide gets to them. Hacs in general are scheduled to get a major uplift.

Don't take this the wrong way but the Ishkru, as a drone ship, is terrible. Its turret firepower outclasses its drone DPS by 50% and with only a HP bouns form the frigate skill and a silly +5m^3 drone bay bouns from Assault Firgates it is in serious need of a "Drone Boat Overhaul".

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

Why don't you just fly a Gila? it's a cruiser with stock 400m3 drone space.

It's more expensive for starters. It's also missile based and shield tanked and most characters who focus gallente don't have those skills up to par early on.

Then there's the most important reason ever: the gila is ugly.

I can fly Gila before Ishtar, and I find myself going back to Gila.

Missile vs hybrid its a non issue at least for me. I use sentry drone, the only weapon going on Ishtar is rails because blasters range isn't practical. Do I need to remind you how good medium rails are?

Training for drone boat you're either going guristas or gallente route, what skills you would train early on really depends on what you choose. Even if you choose gallente, shield skills isn't important, because for Gila all you need is 2 Large shield extender.

I couldn't agree more on the part about looks, Gila is freaking ugly for the love of god CCP please do something about it!

So every other t2 ship should only be able to carry enough ammo for one reason and have a skill that barely raises it?

Technically, drones have infinite ammo if youre careful enough.
