I think this is good, even if in the end will end up with BigBrother paranoia and whatnot this simple decision would prevent a lot of inconveniences and also better track stupid and dangerous people on the internet..

In this case a public ID isn't needed, since VOIP operators get the IPs of anyone using their VOIP. If a perp wants to spoof, the VOIP seller can track him down. So public IPs aren't needed (that causes other abuses).

The only people needing IPs are those who run services/sites. For criminal activities, the ISPs handle that (and all the legal work).

But for these things it's normally a single source of packet flooding (not true DDoS [for that the guy has to have a bot network, and that's unlikely...too busy at his EvE addiction] pretty easily caught and shutdown. The bot DDoS that is the nightmare if not with a provider with heavy DDoS mitigation ($$$).

OP lives under a rock for not knowing that DDoS / DoS is illegal. Of course it's not acceptable.

I see no difference there both taking in game, to out of game.

If your ok with one why is the other one not ok?

Where do you get the idea that it's OK? It's a criminal offence.

It's a shame being a dumbass isn't a criminal offense. The forums would be a lot quieter.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

I find it interesting that no goon has started their smug crap-posting yet in this thread.
Perhaps they are under strict orders never to comment about DDoS or any DoS attacks.

I'm not sure why, but this kind of creeped me out.

I was at Fanfest. I saw my fellow Eve players. I don't think there's much chance of any punches being thrown. So I guess the answer is neither is ok, but only the first is possible.

Pretty sure most 3rd world countries wont have laws against DDoS attacks, punching somebody in the nuts however you'll find, is pretty much going to get you locked up, and possibly beat down if you underestimated your target
