Terminator is slated for 2015

I don't care for this one at all. I watched the original version when I 10 and my parents apparently didn't care what rating of movie I pulled from the vhs shelf. And while we look back at it now and think the graphics are kind of cheesy, you really can't beat the suspense, action, and horror that Arnold Schwarzenegger and Micheal Biehn brought to that movie.

My guess is that the new Kyle Reese will be a kickboxing badass who can hack into literally anything in under 8 seconds (unless a terminator is walking up the stairs, in which case its a suspenseful 2 minutes), and will be on his game immediately rather than a PTSD soldier of a machine war who functions solely on survival instinct.

The terminator will probably be a less intimidating looking version who has far more agility and will be more akin to a Smith in the Matrix than a muscular slow moving unstoppable death machine who is always one step behind you.

And Sarah Connor will be helpless and clumsy throughout most of the movie up until the last fight scene where she'll suddenly turn into Xena warrior princess and beat the ever living crap out of the killer pc, rather than remaining as a terrified woman whose being kidnapped by a crazy guy and trying to be killed by a murdering robot, who only managed to live because she found the right button at the last minute.

Remember, nothing is sacred and special effects are more interesting than good acting to the majority of people who can appreciate it.

Point in context, the Star Wars reboot.

I'm with you Michael. A terminator reboot will be abysmal.

Gah, why cant they just leave things alone?

It's gotten so ridiculous even I didn't link about this Terminator Travesty last week.

Sigh................................

Maybe after 2019 when Cameron gets the rights back he can salvage something here. But hopefully by then we will have seen Avatar 2, 3, & 4.

I still want Cameron to fix the Alien series.

I think I never had this low expectations towards a movie I'll likely go to see in a theater. I mean there is potential there, since terminator 2 was the only really popular movie from the original franchise series. An expensive movie like that can't be like the original in the current market and even fans wouldn't want to see a scene for scene remake, so it'll have to be something different. It can still be good, but you know they're going to **** it up.

The only slim hope I have left relies on the chance, that they'll do something totally different with it. I mean something like having the terminator succesfully killing his target and leaving the audiece totally shocked and not having any idea what is going to happen next in the movie/trilogy. I mean go fully with the famous quote: "The future's not set. There's no fate but what we make for ourselves". New unfamiliar future that no one knows what will happen. It's not like Skynet was set to win the war for sure, if Connors and Reese were killed. Skynet tried to kill them to rewrite a certain defeat and the humans tried to prevent it because it was skynet doing it. There was no way either party could predict exactly what that new future would actually be like, so there is definitely room to do something interesting there.

Too bad it's never going to happen. Straight

That's too complicated of a plot. As a trade off we'll add more 'splosions and a chase scene that will involve the destruction of half of LA.

Ahhhh ... nothing is sacred ... why should it be? We live in a pigsty, everything is mud. Any delusions to the contrary are just that. Big smile

Perhaps we should reboot every single movie from the Black and White era.

Wonder how slutty they would portray Shirley Temple now, or how many abs they would paint over Charlie Chaplin during his semi naked jokes. Yes, let´s recycle everything and paint our current degrading values over it , since all we need is flesh and well toned bodies that die of hunger slowly in women and men that are so androgynous you can´t differentiate them from women.

Perhaps new Shemale variations of Humphrey Bogart and Casablanca fighting against the baddies of the day as Sam plays his Macbook turned piano synth.

The Maltese Falcon could in reality be a Huge Golden Dildo too to make it funny so people would still enjoy whatever is left of the plot and why people want it so badly.

Yes I see a huge way ahead for reboots. Wonderful, glorious reboots, with juvenile faces, since old actors are eew and people these days just want to see "beautiful things" all day long.

They crowd-source that kind of stuff to the D-list celebrities with camera phones these days.

When was the last time Hollywood was creative? To far and in between for my tastes.

Reboot equal they are to afraid to take the change and be creative. So, they default to the opinion of accountants. Hollywood is smart. Not creative.

Meh, I'll watch it. Also, that's Hollywood, don't act surprised about rebooting reboots that are rehashed. I mean they made a jack and the beanstalk movie, I mean seriously.

Its almost as if they want to remove Arnald from every vreat film he did. Total recall was at least an ok film but conan is not conan without that man. Its only a matter of time before they try to make a new commando.

Ironically, Terminator 1 was the best of the series.

Also, am I the only one who found kid Connor in Terminator 2 so terrible annoying?
Children and robots should be just banned from any Sci-fi movie. And utterly stupid: Why, just why didn´t they pick up the frozen T100 and DROP him into the molten steel RIGHT NEXT TO HIM? Nooooo, shoot him so that he unfreezes even quicker. But yeah, "Hasta la vista, baby!", yes, that did work out well....

George R. R. Martin could totally do that. All men must die, after all.
Perhaps we can have a Sarah Connor/Kyle Reese wedding?

yes, because when new movies are made the movie police go around and burn all previous renditions Roll

I like reboots. Many times they are crap, but sometimes they are a great new take on a story. There is good reason imitation is the purest form of flattery.

I think of SciFi's Dune miniseries' , SO MANY Shakespeare performances, the animated Star Wars Clone Wars (the 2-dvd deal, never watched the newer tv series), the litany of movies done in the 40s-early 60's (especially anything science fictiony) that were done so much better in the 70's, 80's and 90's.

There are probably thousands of examples of just stellar movies that would have never been made if ignorant "nothing is better than the original i saw as a kid" nostalgia monkeys ran the show.

Movies aren't a one shot deal. The really really good ones are great because they tell a story that is worth trying to tell in a new, not necessarily 'better', but just different way.

I actually really like the newer Conan with Jason Momoa. Everything in that movie felt more Conany.
