always hated the idea of chasing down cans.

it is dumb.

Translation:

Thinking is bad.

Actually needing to do something to get a reward is bad.

Silver platters are good.

Translation - I *love* twitch gaming. Everyone who doesn't love twitch gaming just like me is a loser. I'm off to play on my Wii now... woot!

If clicking on one can every 4 or 5 seconds is "twitch gaming", then my dead grandmother probably got the requirement to play professionnal starcraft.
Hacking minigame is fine, althrough quite random.
Can chase is fine, althrough sometimes a bit confuse (2 cans close to each other will make it hard to select the desired one).
Can content is fine, if you're making less than before the change, you probably have brain damage.

The only thing I hate is the imaginary tractor beam loot spew.

I mean WTF?

So they wanted to make it real, fine.

But wait, we can't make people add a scanner and a tractor beam.

No, we will just have an imaginary tractor beam.

Who vetts these designs? As a commercial software developer for 23 years I am lolling at you! The design was finished, and sucked, when it needed a tractor beam, should have tossed it then, not hack it up with a imaginary click fest tractor beam.

The thing i'm still most pissed about, is the fact that i put at least 6 months of training research skills and countless missioning hours into getting myself in line with level 4 research agent, only to see datacores drop in value like a concrete blob.

I've even heard the new exploration sites drop them now, i haven't done those yet so i can't be sure, but if that's the case, those prices will drop even further.

the data cores do drop. I have 3 toons passively researching for data cores, the prices for the cores has dropped as well since this release. People are getting quick, easy access to items that people had to train countless hours for and grind countless missions for.

honestly, CCP broke R&D agents. can I have my skillpoints back please?!!! X

....are you slow?

Datacore prices have been in the gutter since they were added to FW LP stores.

Also, exploration sites have ALWAYS dropped datacores.

Also, no, your skillpoints will not be refunded. The skills are still VERY useful.

Ah so you do need a cargo scan to scan the cans that spew? Before the hacking, before the mini game or after it?

You don't need to do it, but it's a good idea to do it. You cargoscan the hackable can before you start the mini-game to see the notable loot it spews. It makes the process of collecting the spew cans more efficient by allowing you to focus on the can types, that you now know has any worthwhile loot and ignore the ones that don't. Without the cargoscan you have no idea what the loot spew contains, so you get them by typical type, which leads to increased amounts of wasted time and missed loot.

Agreed. Lowsec scanning is terrible now because of how many people are doing it. CCP screwed us by improving exploration, so now we can't be the special little snowflakes we used to be. Clearly Odyssey is a failure.

(go to null)

For income on the side and for just plain fun... Yea. It's ruined.

I'm not a special snowflake. I understand it's a bit of a carebear thing to do. That's cool. Sometimes we like to play with rainbows because we get bored of blowing up ships.

As far as ISK...I can trade to make ISK and I have plenty of PVP in lowsec. I don't need to go to nullsec - but I do go to nullsec as well for roams and fights. Nullsec isn't the answer to everything. But it's fine...It's not like I -need- relic and data sites to make money. There's far more lucrative ways things to be doing... But these sites USED to be pretty decent and I think the problem is not only are they no longer worthwhile to run -- they're bugged.

I think you're missing one important thing-- they used to be fun. Carebear activity or not. It was fun to actually put a little time in to finding that signature that led to a wormhole, mag site, radar site, whatever. Now the whole thing is really lame and neutered for sure. I'm giving null a chance as soon as I can find a wormhole with an exit into a null system, then we'll see how much better the returns are, but yeah exploration in low is pretty much a waste of time solo or group.

It's going to be like it was before. For a while everybody is going to be a scan monkey until they realize it's not as profitable nor as fun as what they were doing previously.

On the upside I am actually seein NOOBS in sites. This is a good thing.

I'm looking for them-- Haven't found any yet, but when I do... "BLAM! Gimmie that chain fool!"
