GTKEvemon - Successful Install

I just wanted to update any newer linux-using players out there that GTKEvemon is alive and kicking and installs.

I compiled it on Fedora 17 about 10 minutes ago. It took a bit of fiddling to determine "which" GTK packages it needed.

I installed "gtkglextmm-devel" and all dependencies via yum and it compiled flawlessly.

When building an api key for it I selected SkillQueue and CharacterSheet options.

It has a much smaller feature set than the WIndows EVEMon program, but it runs natively under linux (no Mono headaches). It appears to handle most "skilling" features found in EVEMon: manipulate skill plans, import/export EVEMon plans, plans from certificates, etc. You can email yourself updates as skills finish.

It appears to be missing things like monitoring your in-game mail/productions jobs/etc. And the one big skilling feature I don't see is building a skill plan from the ship you want to fly.

Still, a sweet little program. Google for it, it's hosted at Bitbucket.

Yeah, you get 1.8-135 from https://bitbucket.org/BattleClinic/gtkevemon/get/default.tar.bz2 You can change INSTALL_BIN in the makefile if you want to install it somewhere else than /usr/local/bin

Some time ago gtkevemon moved to github:
https://github.com/gtkevemon/gtkevemon

Also, trunk builds for Ubuntu and Debian are available in gtkevemon Launchpad PPA:

Thanks for posting the links, I wasn't sure if I was allowed to (if it would be considered some sort of advertising). I'm VERY VERY new to Eve.

Anyway, love the program, looking forward to making use of it over the long term.

Since my last KDE update (4.10.1) I'm unable to use GTKEvemon any more since "minimize to tray" totally freezes my desktop. No clue about the problem. Now I'm forced to use evemon through wine,,,

I had a problem with that too.

Under the configuration options, I chose Tray Usage: "Don't use Tray" and put a check in Minimize on close. It minimizes to the program bar instead of the tray, and works fine.

Just a word of advice to all Arch users.
The current upstream version of gtkmm (2.24.3-x) is broken.
To be able to compile programs that require this library (like gtkevemon), downgrade gtkmm to 2.24.2-x and it will work.

Also, to update for Odyssey skill changes. Go into the datafiles folder in the source, read the README and compile SkillTree.xml.gz and CertificateTree.xml.gz and place them in ~/.gtkevemon

So, am I understand correctly that I need only download GTKEveMon and its prerequisites, then download the latest datafiles ?
If it is correct then finally I can use it under RHEL Bear
