is there such a concept ?
i'd like to join a fleet with my alt preferably hisec, don't have much, only a venture now, but i'd like to participate without necessarily joining a corp
are there any fleets accepting strangers to join ?

"public" fleets are usually a null sec thing, where you've set standings to +5 and can accept on that basis. I very much doubt anyone would advertise a high sec mining fleet like that, because all of the retards would be attracted to it for the "lulz".

I don't know exactly what you're looking for, but I know there's usually public fleets for orca boosts and stuff in Abudban. Sometimes they ask for a small fee, but not really anything of notice.. So I'd imagine there'd be things like that at other mining hubs too.

Normally no because of the security issues of letting strangers into fleets, but also the problems of trust. Most people are not (and shouldn't) willing to trust a total strange to haul their ore to a station for them over several hours and then expecting them to give you your ore / minerals. Because why would they?

The best thing to do is to befriend people who do mine and join them on their mining ops. These can be people in your corp/alliance, or people outside of these that you or your friends know so that you have at least some degree of trust to start off with. Really the only way to do it safely and successfully is to befriend people who you can join up with.

They do occur now and then. The purpose is not to have a stranger haul your ore, its to get orca boosts. Also Ive seen some fleets where the orca pilot will buy any can of ore on the spot for like 4 mil. You fill a jet can, he tractors it in, you get 4 mil.

I would be more afraid of people inviting you to fleet then ganking you.. best thing you can do is get in to a good corp and hang out with them.

I offer this service all the time. I ask in local if anyone would like a fleet boost from my Orca pilot. Those who know me in that area know that I'm not a ganker, they accept the invitation and proceed to mine a hell of a lot faster than they would have been able to if they were mining solo.

i did them when i first started. a few nice people organised them. they'd provide orca boosts and they'd pay you for a full jetcan as soon as they scooped it. they'd pay below market price. you'd get more isk/hour because you didn't have to haul or anything, they'd make more isk because they got cheap ore... win/win.

haven't seen any one do anything like that in a long while though.

Has to do with the local suddenly exploding in size. ;)
I run them when I can, but only to regulars.
