Data/Relic Site despawn timers bugged?

Hi, I decided to have some fun this morning by going into a WH. I cleared a data site of all NPCs as usual, warped out to get into my anathema, when I warped back in, it was gone. It took around 2 minutes for me to swap ship and combat and it was gone.

I figured I might have taken longer than I expected, so I did another relic site, the same thing happened! I was gone for less than 2 minutes and the site was gone again!

Is anyone else having this issue? I've been reading the patch notes and it seems that site shouldn't be despawning until they are partially cleared at least.

That's how it has always worked. You have to finish them in one go or leave an alt cloaked up inside.

Thanks! I wasn't aware of that, I usually just ran the anomalies.

No, you must have something uncloaked in the site to keep it alive. A cloaked ship in a cleared site is the same as no ship in a site.

Alternatively, if you leave one sleeper frigate alive at the very end and then warp out to switch ships. The site will remain, you just have to kill it when you return. Or jam it out/tank it, take your pick.

It's also worth noting that not all sites work this way--C1 sites persist until downtime and will respawn sleepers the next day. Some C2 sites will also persist long enough for you to switch ships.

Looks like CCP forgot about wormholes when they changed the despawn timers on relic/data sites. I'm shocked.

Back in my previous corp, we were living in a C2. The "radar" site cans were usually worthless, so we often would clear the Sleepers and then leave the site up (just cans) as scan bait. The idea was that we would:
1) Have more time to see someone probing.
2) If they decided to hack the cans, we might be able to catch them.

Key point here being that we would clear ALL sleeper rats and the site would NOT despawn for about 3 days. If you started to hack a can, however, the site would despawn within a couple minutes of leaving. Clearing rats did not cause the despawn; hacking (or attempting) a can did.
