hi all, ive just decided to move from galente space to caldari space to mission and this bring up a few questions to see if ill have issues..

1. is there so much ecm that i need the eccm module? (i have the new skill for eccm to 3)(running a t1 mega)
2. what kinda ranges should i expect? is my standard 30km~ optimal sufficient or will i need to use the long range ammos?
3. is 430dps tank strong enough or should i go for a 500~ dps tank?
4. is the salvage any good out here? or do i just wanna kill everything and move on?

im in a regular megatheron atm, with my sensor skill at 3 i have 23.5 points of sensor, and with my current fit i tank will hold 459dps cap stable, any suggestion are apreciated, thank you

Rats in caldari space use missiles. Their range from 0 to 200+ km. So the ranges don't matter, you will get hit no matter where you are.

For the record, I fly cruise ravens, cruise navy ravens, cruise navy scorpions, cruise typhoons. That is how I know that range don't matter against rats in caldari space.

  1. There are a few missions with jamming Guristas rats. But after a while you recognize them by name and can prioritize them. Also (in my experience) jamming isn't as bad as previously. Hardly have those frustrating perma-jams anymore. Never ha the need to fit ECCM.
  2. 30km may be a bit short if you cannot close the distance with e.g. an AB. A lot of rats like larger orbits (esp. Guristas BS).
  3. Usual rule of thumb of 1000 gank + tank should be fine.
  4. Guristas salvage is in my opinion sub-par to the other factions. But then again, not every mission you'll get will be Guristas. Esp. If you also fly for Amarr or Minmatar agents in Caldari space.

for L4s, most of your targets will be 35km - 70km. there are the occasional 100km (a hair further) spawns. maybe 10% are close frigs and far battleships. with a 30km optimal you'll be waiting around or burning to targets a lot.

I fitted 2x racial eccm II to a dominix with the skill at iv, and had 90+ sensor str. I occasionally got a single jam whillst kiting the trigger battleship the 10kms or so over I needed to have the next spawn immediately in drone control range (because gurista all just shoots you from wherever they are you have to move under fire from the whole spawn instead of one ship if you don't kite).

None of the cruisers succeeded, but from what I've read subsequently they all have the same jam strength.

2 modules and the skill means painless missioning, 1 module and the skill probably means occasional interruptions, and i'd expect no modules to have long periods of jam.

You don't really need a web for gurista, so thats the usual module you would sacrifice.

You'll also get sansha missions I'd expect and you may find yourself unamused by sansha blockade in a mega.

ECM was worst for me in lvl 3 than it is in lvl 4. The better sensor strenght on a BS comnpared to a bC might have something to do with it but the max I ever get is 2 cycle in a row jammed now with no compensation skills yet.

Gurista's chap my posterior maximus when they do jamm.

Most annoying.

Guristas saboteur, mostly come in packs of 3, and will most likely perma jam you. 99% of the time.

Guristas despoiler, annoying jams a bit but not all the time. 65% of the time

Guristas murderer / killer, jamming and will mostly keep you jammed 80% of the time.

Pith Eliminator BS rat jams 30% to 50% of the time.

Mostly in missions your destroyers will target drones when you try to kill

Guristas webifier / Kyoken<~~~~something like that.

Also any elite frigates will target drones so kill destroyer and elite frigates before deployment of drones.

Your warp scrabblers will be

A. Look out for the ship type CONDOR and HERON type bodies they will warp scram you and along with the Webbers and kyoken are most of the time the triggers for escalation.

Loot 95% of the time stinks, best item recovered meta 4 missile launcher ~4 mil+ isk

Salvage really stinks, I don't waste my time in Guristas missions.

Anything else is worth looting and salvaging i.e. serp, blood, sansha, EOM.....drone missions stink.

Yea there's nothing like NPC ships that have no launcher hardpoints hitting you with torpedos from over 100km LOL
