Starting Over

I am at a point where I am seriously considering destroying all my assets and characters and starting over.
Problem is every time I get to that point I start thinking well I will just save this and keep that.
I actually thought it would be easier to just let go of old characters, guess what, not so easy after all.

Just wondering if anyone has gone down this path and destroyed everything and started over from scratch ?

There's no point in starting over your skill training. It's a complete and meaningless waste of time to do so.

I've been through a divorce, which counts as losing (mostly) everything and starting over. Depending on the circumstances it can be quite refreshing.

There's a million angry citizens looking down their tubes..at me.

Well, should you decide to start over - please send any ISK or valuable assets to Khira Kitamatsu - I will put them to good use. :)

No if I do it I will destroy a stupid amount of Assets and ISK all will go straight in the trash can.
And yes I know starting over training again does hold me up some but when your character's are over 100k SP you now need ISK to support them, so it comes down to all or nothing and hence my problem.

Why waste assets and ISK? THink of the harm you could do to the EVE economy. At least in this way you are still contributing to the betterment of the game by allowing the assets and ISK to remain a part of it. Please reconsider your intentions. :)

Why?

In a game like Eve where there is absolutely no point in starting from scratch (other than a severely tarnished reputation), why would you even consider it?

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

Do you seriously think I'd have this name if I thought starting over was a good idea? Blink

This was meant to be a character that lived 2 weeks or so while I learned the basics of EVE.

That was over 4 years ago.

Sell all your assets on market,

Sell all your characters on the Character Bazaar,

Either,

Buy new character that you like off Character Bazaar with the isk

Start a new character from scratch with lots of isk

Or,

Keep what you have & crosstrain

Starting over like that in EvE Online is like cutting a loud fart at a wedding reception, no matter how badly you wish you could take it back the embarrassment of that moment will last forever. Arrow

Accounts can have 3 characters on them, just start a new one and never log into that character again.

Take a PLEX and resculpt your pilot.

He'll look new, you'll feel better and you won't make a pointless mistake you'll later regret.

Done that several times myself over the years.

But I wouldn't recommend it unless there's a reason for disliking the character. If you do decide to trash the character then transfer the assets to the new one first.

If you've been playing with a reasonable amount of sp then the chances are if you restart you won't enjoy the game as much as you won't be able to do as many things to start with.

So in short don't restart a character that has been around awhile if it has a reasonable amount of sp. Better to change the look of the portrait and don't worry about having skills trained that you've decided you no longer need.

If the reason for trashing the character and assets is that you don't want a link to past corps/alliances then you have two options:
1. Make a new character and transfer assets to the new character, then delete the old character and make a new playable character transfer the assets from the holding character then delete that holding character as well.
2. Just park the account and start a new one.

Just like training different alts for different combat purposes , train several times the same base skills, it's just idiot for little advantage considering you can do the same for free just by playing with other people.

Just roll a new account and forget the password on the old one. If you get tempted to ever login to it then you will know.

Otherwise its pointless to delete everything on a time-based game.

I did this to race swap, it was worth it for me but I did lose 3 years of skill training. But I sold my character and used the isk on this character. There are times where I do regret it a bit but I am happy I did it but I had my reasons.
