Salvage Drone AI - Need some TLC

I have noticed something strange about the salvage drones; when you set them to salvage a field, they pick targets randomly across the field, spending quite a lot of time in transit between wrecks. I suppose this is an AI setting telling them to for example salvage drones in their order of distance to the ship, at least it seems this way. But is there any way to set this to insted choose the first wreck after a given aparameter and then switch to salvaging whichever wreck is closest to that? This would make these drones a lot more efficient at clearing a field. After a lvl4 mission this could be potentially 50+ wrecks and as such takes quite a lot of time with most of the time spent in transit between wrecks...

Drones salvage by distance, but not off themselves, by your ships distance to said wreck. So if a wreck on the other side of the field is 1m closer than the one beside them, they will go to the one across the field. This is why most salvage done users use tractor beams to bring the wrecks beside their ship as it negates that issue.

And no, there isn't a way to change it unfortunately.
