Hello Apple & EVE fans!

We currently have a defect a few people have sent us in with game icons are rendering incorrectly (funky colours or weird lines if you want to get technical). I've seen examples across inventory and ship icons but nothing specific enough to give us a lead.

This seems to be just on Mac and we cannot get a reproduction in house. Checking on portable and desktop models with a range if different animal name based operating systems we have not seen it here. So I would like to know from you guys if you are

- Still experiencing the issue?

and if so:

- Can you give me as much information about your Mac hardware [OS/Ram/GFx Card/Model]
- Let me know how or when it happens
- Does clearing your cache fix the issue?

I thank you in advance for your assistance and hopefully we can nail this down and get it sorted for everyone!

CCP thank you for looking into this. Big smile

To answer you first question, yes I'm still having issues with certain items not having their correct icon appearing. I've cleared the cache several times and it does not fix the problem. As to when this problem first occurred, it happened as soon I download Odyssey and has persisted since then. However the problem is not limited to ship icons, here's a short list:

Ship icons
Blueprints (originals and copies)
Frozen Corpses (male and female)
POS
POS structures
Stations
Stargates
Wormholes
Sleeper drones

Here's my computer information:

MacBoo Pro (laptop) 13-inch which I bought in early 2011
Processor: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory: 4 GB 1333 DDR3
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
Operating System: OS X 10.8.4 (12E55)

I hope this information is helpful in recreating the problem so it can be solved

Thanks for working on this problem CCP.
I am still having this issue, Tabris Katz's list of affected icons confirms my experience. In addition, normal, non-sleeper drone icons are affected.

This problem occurs constantly, and clearing the cache does not make it go away, however when the cache is cleared, it seem to change the specific look of the glitched icon.
As well as funky colours or weird lines, icons sometimes include details of icons from the Mac OS X dock.

Computer information:
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2011)
2.4GHz i5 MacBook Pro (MD313LL/A)
OS X 10.8.4
4 GB RAM
Intel HD Graphics 3000

Thanks again

I forgot to mention some other effected icons in my previous post. They include hackable structures from Data and Relic sites.

I wonder if this is at all related to the psychedelic effects I'm now getting in CQ on two of my accounts, where my avatars render with details from other parts of the station they're in, or appear soaking wet, or bright purple, or with metal pipes for hair, or (in once case) striped. Sometimes the colors change if I move the camera around them.

It's great fun, but there does seem to be an issue with textures rendering on the Mac under certain circumstances. I can attach a wealth of screenshots if anyone's interested.

[EDIT:

One account also consistently gets a bright green background for both the character creator/editor and the "Show Full Body" window.

CCP,

Looking forward to this getting fixed!

Clearing the Cache works not at all. In fact, upon clearing the cache MORE weird item icons appeared. Strange I know...

Items in station inventory are most prevalent including:

all ship models
all drone models
all blueprints
and the number keeps growing if i clear the cache

Any and all icons affected in station inventory are also affected in "Selected Item" window when undocked as well as when "Show info" window is opened upon request.

I hope this assists in your search!

Hm, it might not be the same issue, but I have a problem with overview brackets, instead of a symbol and a colored square, I just get the square. been so for a few weeks now but I haven't been any annoyed by it. picture related

iMac, 2007
CPU: 2.4 Ghz core 2 duo
GPU: ATI 2600 HD

PS. EVE crashed after login in today, and my UI reset (restarting did not solve it) so I am quite cross with you today. Cry

Constant problem since Odyssey with icon graphics.

Affecting some

blueprints
ships
modules
drones
POS
Hackable Containers
NPC icons

Clearing the catch does not help,

Hardware Specs

MacBook Pro 15 inch Early 2011
2 GHz Intel Core i7
4 GB Memory

Edited to add:

Switching between the integrated/discrete graphics adapters has no effect.
Switching over to a bootcamp partition with Win 7 64bit all graphics display correctly on the same hardware.

Macbook, I'll have to grab the stats later as my wife is using it, but it's every icon that requires client-side 3D rendering causing this to happen. Most modules have 2d icons and are not effected; portraits load 2d renders from the server and are fine, but the icons for most everything else are rendered by the client (unless I'm mistaken?) and have completely broken icons.

I can get the Icons to change depending on settings, currently it's affecting all ship and drone icons. However if I reset the graphics settings the icons all turn black, if I change to optimize for performance, they all turn to a red patchwork, if I optimize for memory or quality the icons change appearance yet again.

I've tried deleting the cache offline and online to no effect.

I have a reproduction in house here now thanks to your guys help, all the hardware configs and item breakdowns where invaluable.

Passed this along to a programmer to take a dig into so hopefully we will have a solution for this now we can see it in person here at the office. Thanks again to all who took time to message!

After the seeing the problems with the icons and having trouble finding where my loadouts were going when I exported them, and finally finding them inside the tansgaming folder - inside the eve online.app - inside the contents folder - inside the main eve online.app and not in library - application support - Eve online - P_drive like everyone including the developers instructed, I figured that something must be wrong with my client.

So I went through and deleted every reference to eve that I could find and deleted the whole eve app folder. Then I redownloaded everything, all 7.26 gigs of it. Now it does place the load outs where eve developers say it is suppose to go. Big smile

The reason I'm posting here instead of other threads is because now, instead of my icons being scrambled, they all show the same thing, which seems to be an upside-down mirrored tiny screenshot of something to do with Adobe CS2.

Another good thing came of it, I can now take screenshots properly :)

I also in my researching and experimenting, found out about a program called Vitality, a mac character planner from this post, https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=233980, and I found out that EFT works well with any type of wine for mac, as long as you manually create the EVE/Fittings folder inside the Mac HardDrive/Users/"your profile name" folder and manually copy the load outs from eve there and back. Trying to get EveHQ to work since I prefer it but no success so far since I cant figure out how to install the sql runtime that EveHQ requires inside the same wine as EveHQ

I love my Macbook Pro and the OSX series, but I have come to hate the iProducts like iPhone, iPad, etc. So am I considered an "Apple Fanboy" or not?

Hey thanks so much for looking into this CCP, I have the same issues with my late 2011 MacBook Air. I'm not at home at the moment so I don't have the exact specs, but I will update this post later with the info. Until then, here is a list of the items the glitch affects:

All ships
Blueprints
Corpses
Drones
POS modules
Stargates
Wormholes
Acceleration Gates

Will update when I get home and check more.

Thanks again for looking into this Big smile

Thanks for getting around to looking into this CCP.

As stated by those above I am having problems with the icons for a growing number of things.

- All ships
- All drones
- Blueprints
- Stations
- POS - POS arrays etc

I have cleared the cache to no effect. Reinstalled the client to no effect.

I am running:

Macbook Pro 15" Late 2011
2 GHz i7
8 GB Ram
Graphics - AMD Radeon HD 6490M 256 MB
OS X 10.8.4

Further to the above problems and I am not sure it is related, but now when I try and open my client the game does not launch at all. I get the launcher screen, click play and the game appears to open however there is nothing displayed on screen. The computer appears to be working harder, as usual when running eve (Ram is used, fans work harder etc) but nothing happens at all. I cannot access the menu by pressing escape and the only way to close the program is to force quit.

I got this same problem. Just downloaded the client onto this machine again after a 12 month break.

Processor 2 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6490M 256 MB
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)

Game plays great, just the icons are all mostly corrupted.

I also have this problem

2006/7 Mac G5 2x2.66 intel dualcore
ATI 5770 Raedeon
5GB RAM

Icons on killmails along with some of the other issues others have descibed,

Icons show up fine when using the market but then the same icon wont show on a killmail for example.

Thanks for looking into this!
