An Indy Corp's War

I'd like to think I've done a lot in Eve. Maybe not quite as much as some people.... but enough to know what I like to do.

I've been in lowsec, null, and WH space; and they've all had their charms. But highsec PvP just seemed to be more fun to me.

Now, some might call it cowardly, but I liked highsec PvP. I always found it fun when our small group of about 5 pilots would go to war with a larger "do it all" alliance (We never wardec'd mining corps, mind you. But that didnt stop me from going after a mining barge now and then :P ). We would gather ourselves up, and go off to see how many of them we could harrass before the cavalry showed up. To be honest, that was the most fun I had had in Eve.

Granted, there were some irritating points such as neutral logi and the like... but all in all, I enjoyed it.

After the wardec prices increased, my small corp found it difficult to afford, and ended up moving on to other things. I hopped around from corp to alliance doing various things, and little by little, I began to get bored with the game... I missed the good fights our small fleets would provide. The only thing that seemed to be left in highsec now were large mercenary alliances that would either annihilate everything in their path, or collide with other large groups in fantastic slaughter fests (and the infamous station games that everyone loves :P ). I almost felt useless at times, but it was the closest thing to what I loved to do.

A RL friend of mine, who happens to be fairly new to Eve, asked me to join a small industrial corporation that he was in. I thought "why not" and joined up.

After about a week of me being there... we were wardec'd by a small 9 man "pirate" corp. Being the most experienced person in corp with this sort of thing, I was put in charge of leading our PvP gang into battle. I expected to be completely slaughtered, as most of my corpmates were quite low in skillpoints, and most had never been in a PvP engagement before. I was shocked at how well they formed up. We formed a sizable fleet of about 10 ships, and went to knock on their door.

Its been a week since then, and we are currently losing the war by 100 million isk. Corp members are beginning to get discouraged, and we're in danger of losing our members, and their hope. Tomorrow is the last day of tolerance for several of them... if something doesn't happen, the corp may very well fold.

I am currently sitting in the HQ station of my old highsec PvP corp, dusting off the old Cynabal that has served me so well in the past. Tomorrow, I will feel the rush of something I haven't felt in awhile. Tomorrow, I will do what I need to, to keep this corp together.

Tomorrow, there will be a killmail... and either I, or their names will be on it.

Would you like to borrow 100million isk?

Reasonable rates.

My miner killed a hauler while piloting his Mack today.

High sec and no pesky wardec fee. It can be done.

Like you said, most of your corp were noobs with low SP and no experience in PVP. I'm sure they learned a lot from this wardec and about pvp.

Good story so far, but poor title.

Good luck hunting

Earlier today I took the Cynabal out, and was unable to kill any of them. They were unable to catch me, but I couldn't stay close long enough to hold point... so they just kept warping off.

I just logged in after work a few minutes ago and jokingly told my corpmates that I was going to hunt the war targets with my Orca. I threw my Proteus into the ship maintenance array, and went out.

I jumped into a system, and noticed a WT in local... so I waited for him. Sure enough, he found me and proceeded to burn for my Orca (He was in a hurricane). I waited for him to get point.... then to get close enough for web.

He was about 3km away when I ejected the Proteus, borded it, and killed him.

We are now 11 mil short of winning the war.

An important question, yet to be addressed, is this: does your corp support the Code?

I am shocked no one has considered this yet. Is it possible this corp that wardecced you just wanted to take care of some illegal miners?

I'm not trying to accuse your corp of violating the Code. But I think we all need some more context.

See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did.

An update on how the war is going:

They extended the war another week, and informed me that they would never end the wardec. I actually spoke with one of their members on Skype, and he said that because he was angry with our CEO (presumably for fighting back) they were going to have their friends war dec us as well. Their supposed friends are a large, well known mercenary group (I now believe his claims were false, as I've not seen any action from the group he mentioned)

Because of this, we decided to invite a few friends of our own into the war, and make the move into lowsec. One day later, 3 of their members have left corp, including their CEO.

They still have an 11 mil lead on us... but I'm beginning to wonder if we'll ever get the chance to close that gap at all now.

Well, unless they're truly new players everyone knows if you're war decced, easiest way to avoid it is to remain docked. Just log out and play with your alts instead. For individual players it won't hurt their ISK potential (trading alts aren't even in corps, and totally anon too).

Most of them don't have alts to play with, and the ones that do are in corp with us. Trying to wait out the war would have simply made everyone leave our corp, thus killing it.

Not to mention, hiding during a war is rather boring.

Has the neutral logi thing been fixed yet? I thought logis get suspect flagged when they rep people who are engaged in pvp.

Remember that whenever you have a bad day in EVE, the correct reponse is "Thank you CCP, may I please have another?"

It is sad, but this is the state of affairs that CCP clearly wants.
They feel that having griefer groups dec indy groups for the sole purpose of ruining the the indy corp's gameplay is an acceptable, even laudable practice.

It would interesting to know how many of your indy corp have quit the game, and then warned off who knows how many potential subscribers to the game.
