Why not 4 ore haulers instead of all the racial cargo haulers?

Here's how it can be done:
1 blockade runner (speed plus warp stabs)
1 armored hauler (survive weaker high-sec ganks)
1 bulk carrier (largest subcap cargo hold)
1 capital freighter

Then just re-purpose the existing ships as best as you can into new roles of some sort. If you can't, well the art assets served a purpose for a long time.

out of curiosity do u think of t1 or t2.

if they are all t1 i would give a +1, also i would add maybe a cargo freighter (can carry up to 9 or 10 enourmus freight containers) which can also transport less container but how many conts getting transported is visible on the hull. Transporting a package of max the container m³ so.

other thing i would add would be a pure ore subcap freighter who could carry maybe 60k m³ ore only.

EDIT: i believe ccp already works on industrial (freighter) rebalance

capital freighter?, but freighters are already classified as capital ships, that doesnt even make sense Shocked

Jeanne, I brought this topic up because of the rebalance. I don't see the point of 4 sets of virtually identical vessels. I would think that there would be a T2 version of each ore ship.

Silivar, yeah yeah. It's called being redundant and I did it for a purpose.

CCP is reluctant to remove the racial haulers from the game.

Honestly, what might be a really good idea is if all four races get three cargo haulers specialized in one of three areas:
Rapid transit
Maximum defense
Offensive capabilities (read battle badger)

Then provide an ORE freighter that's slower than a brick mud with shields/armor thinner than Rush Limbaugh's skin at the Democratic National Convention, and the mobility of a whale on the surface of a 3g planet but also has something like 25-50% more cargo than the "biggest" racial hauler. I would suggest that it be able to haul no more than 50km3 cargo (give or take 5%) simply because something that will be presumably cruiser-ish in size probably ought not be hauling around more than one disassembled battleship at a time.

Just an idea.

just an idea why not 2 ore haulers one who is faster, tankier and has higher mobility but only has half of the ore capacity of the other one. 2nd CCP if u read this pls resize the ships (haulers, carrier and super carriers are to small by far, maybe even the freighters [havent check them yet]).

Because you have racial industrials to do that and if you had a second ORE hauler doing that few people would want or feel that they need to fly the racial industrials?

Because they kind of got painted into a corner back in 2003 when they released every race as having unique ships with the same functions.

It would have been great if they had given access to 'neutral' faction ships early on, and there be an Interbus line of ships that specialized in hauling. This is kind of what they did with Mining when barges and exhumers were introduced.

Almost all of the current racial ships are warships of some type. As such, the civilian role ships should have been handled by civilian corps. Navy haulers should have a military purpose, such as ammo hauling, ship refitting, etc...

They could even go with a class of Spaceship command called "Civilian Spacecraft", with the Ore ships down one branch, Interbus down another, with additional branches dealing with Civilian Logistics (bonuses to structure repair), Management (foreman links, with new links to improve other aspects of civilian ships such as tractor/mining laser range, Ship Agility, cargo, probably some others I can't think of because I don't do that stuff.

Now they don't want to use existing racial ship models for ORE ships, don't want to add new models for new racial ships, and don't want to reuse existing models for new ships.
