Something of a sub-capital ship that can build ships from within itself using ore, supplying a corporation with hulls from blueprints etc, able to use warp gates / and being able to also cyno into a system, like a supply ship etc.

The notion of a "factory ship" has been brought up multiple, multiple times. In all cases it's been generally agreed upon that it would have to be at least on the order of an Industrial Supercarrier, if not a full-on Industrial Titan. The search button is up there. Try it out.

Why?

Because you can operate as a mobile fleet

#1 Production != mining
#2 Sub-cap T1 ships should not be able to fit jump drives. Jump freighters are, technically, capitals and black ops ships are T2.
#3 Sub-cap production ships should not be building ships except, maybe, for frigates or destroyers, and I don't see that as being a seriously demanded vehicle given that it would need to be a battleship or larger in order to "realistically" accommodate that.

Now if you want to suggest a mobile production platform that is sub-cap in size for manufacturing small things like ammo and cap booster charges I could go for that.

But you can already do that? Anyway, how would producing bare hulls help on a roam? And what stops this thing just being killed first?

What advantages does it have over using existing systems, stations, outposts and POS for example?

Now wait a second, there is some merit to this idea.

Think about it this way, if there is a massive fleet-battle going on, a mobile manufacturing platform would be a good investment, especially if it can only build standard and advanced Destroyers and Frigates.

Not only could people who have had their ships destroyed get back into the fight, therefore prolonging the engagement and adding to attrition tactics, it could become a major target that people have to focus on, like the titans.

As an FC you would have to choose between which to destroy first: a mobile manufacturing ship or a titan, or other capitals.

I don't claim to be the most knowledgeable in PvP Fleet-Battles, but I would think it would add another layer to the tactics of warfare in EvE, especially if you consider that it would have a finite cargohold, so at some point you'd have to worry about the logistics of supplying it with fresh minerals and parts to manufacture with.

Keep in mind that this kind of ship doesn't have to only play a role in PvP battles, there's no reason it can't take part in factional warfare as well, and it could be valued as an asset.

If you've got a fight like that going on, with caps involved, it'd be a lot less hassle just to have your carrier pilots drop frigates out of their SMAs for reships. That way you don't have someone tied up in a factory ship trying to build unfit hulls, which wouldn't be any use in the fight anyway.

And what makes FW any different to any other kind of PVP?

they were mentioned before and i gave somewhere else already a thumbs up for it, they would help ppl without a pos to build stuff (bs-hull = frigs/dessi + ammo + equipment | carrier-hull = bc an smaller + ammo + equipment | titan-hull = everything | maybe a bc-hull for pure charge production). Maybe also add an research ship. But those ships also need a proper penalty also they need to survive long enough for support to help.

I think it would also help with tactical deployment, rather then waitng for someone with a jump frieghter, it would just make the game more fun having ships made nearby on demand to then use for pvp.
