Ore anomalies

By turning gravimetric signatures into ore anomalies CCP made a good thing for scanners: grav sites now don't interfere in newbie scanners' work.
But.
They also did a huge evil to miners, especially to those who like to mine in wormhole space: I suspect that very few activate their Ore anomalies (just because they don't bother) if they don't mine, themselves. So, in systems where no miners live, such ore anomalies can gather for MONTHS. On the other hand, in other systems miners can "die" starving.

I suggest you make ore anomalies despawn automagically after 5-7 or max 10 days even if noone activates them.

p.s. I'm not a miner, just occured to think of it a bit.

very intuitive of you ... this wasn't covered in dozens of other threads before either, so nice work!

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

From what I gathered, Gravimetric (and Ladar sites) only had a 3-day lifespan. I don't see why that should have changed with Odyssey.

I think that was once they were triggered by a warp in. Although I'm not sure if that's true these days. I think it used to be quite a while back.

Despite what you may think. Sarcasm doesn't make you appear clever.

If you don't activate them by initiating warp they can live forever (you don't even need to actually warp to them, just initiate warp and cancel it).

so now miners have it a bit more interesting. they get punished if they turn around and watch TV while mining in a wormhole system.

how can this be bad?

Because wh-space is now the black duck in the family. No one is going to mine in wh-space if they can afk-mine somewhere else, especially since the ore mined in wh-space needs to be hauled out.

It's not about specializing in wh mining. Many people do combination of ratting, gas harvesting and mining. It's especially true for big groups of people living in one system and for low-class systems.

We did, but mostly for the sake of building things in-system and reducing the number for sigs when searching for our daily static.

I assure you people do mine in wh space. Have seen a lot of barges at work and/or afk.

Liafcipe9000 wrote:

The topic is not about that aspect. It's about the broken anomaly rotation mechanics. Anomalies should constantly rotate between many systems, instead of abnormally and unnaturally gathering in several systems in big numbers.

Odyssey strongly increased rotation of travelling connections and even of part of statics, but also strongly dropped ore sites' rotation.
It's a sort of bug, but in anomaly despawn mechanics, not in code.
