10 patches in 20 days since the Odyssey update? That's a bit much.

Every MMO I played does this. The test server rarely gets all the bugs because the player base is too small with limited time. Once the full playerbase gets on the new code, more stuff out of whack are spotted and results in hot-fixes. Getting ALL the bugs worked out on the test server would probably mean many months in a test phase likely pushing the 2 expansion a year schedule to one every year with the same amount of content.

I completely agree. I would much rather deal with bugs for weeks at a time then download a massive file at the end of the month than wait a few extra seconds to log in every couple of days.

I really hate it when they release fixes and updates right away instead of waiting for three weeks for random bugs to be squashed.

So annoying!

Really - You are asking the DEVs to stop fixing the game.
You people are never [email protected] happy.

Also - LOL @ the DEVs answer to your stupidity.

I agree with THIS quote.

If CCP stops fixing the game people will complain and if the are fixing the game people complain.

Please make up your minds what do you really want a stable working game or a game that has lots of bugs.

I prefer a working stable game and the launcher works as intended.

So please stop bickering and play the game as intended.

I can run multi launchers without any problems on the same computer.

It could be that your gaming rig needs to be upgraded thats if you have an old gaming rig and so slooooow internet connection Big smileP.

BTW i am not a CCP employee i just having my input as a player to this forum.

Making a piece of software work perfectly is a technological impossibility unless the developer can also control the hardware, down to the part numbers, as well as the tech refreshes of the client, and can therefore optimize for one specific hardware configuration.

Even then, you're at the mercy of the internet.

The launcher provides greater patch flexibility and lower mean downtime for clients during the patching process. As that was it's intended purpose, I call it a success.

I didn´t talk about perfection as far as i can remember,

Then your memory is extremely short. Your post that I replied to started like this:

I´ve never experienced these issues. Anyway, the launcher doesn´t seem to work perfectly considering the complaints one can find in the forums. Hopefully this will be fixed sooner or later.

If you didn't mean perfectly, then say what you mean.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

i get a 6mb patch after EVERY downtime, and everytime it fails, then i have to repair and then it validates the whole client again. I really hope thats a bug ;)

Meh it's nothing compared to test servers not auto patching and having to copy the 10GB eve dir every few days :p

Auto patching for test clients would be awesome

Are you running ExeFile.exe to access the game, and thus bypassing the EVE Launcher?

Micropatched are DL, from launcher as well as from ExeFile.exe. The extra annoyance comes from the way Exefile.exe download and apply the patch, but they still exist, and still are extremely annoying for low connexions.

Maybe you should make it so the exefile.exe Cannot download a patch, but instead says "please run the launcher to apply the patch".

Whenever the exefile asks to download a patch, tell it 'no', quit the client and start the launcher.
(No need to use it for playing, you can simply close it again after it patched the game)

Getting really tired of these little 6MB micro patches for the launcher that I'm not even using. Can you NOT increment the entire game's version every time you tweak an image in the damned launcher?? I'm happy running from exefile.exe, and NEVER want to see the launcher.

You're only seeing "micro patches" because you're running from ExeFile.exe. Your client starts up and finds out it's out of date, and starts the EVE Launcher to patch; the only way to connect to Tranquility is with an up-to-date client.

Not if you left the launcher up overnight, then you login and it thinks everything is hunky-dory and then evefile.exe tries and fails to patch on its own.

Best part is the launcher fails to delete the *.patch files. So they'll sit in your eve folder for the next few years.

i don't mind the patches as all fixes are good just wish after each patch the launcher would remember my account name as it keeps wiping it on each patch!

Not sure, i just use the icon that it's in my start menu labeled as EVE. I will check but i find it weird that i have to worry about that kind of stuff as a user ;)

I thought the patches were caused by the addition of the Launcher, granted, I hate all the extra steps the launcher takes in patching the client over the simple download and quick install we used to have. All these micropatches I was complaining about are 15-30mb files that take a good 10-15 mins to get downloaded and installed via the launcher, and there has been one almost every single day since Odyssey. What happened CCP? It used to be: Expansion -> Day after patch to fix the game breaking bugs -> 2-3 days to collect issues -> Patch to fix the patch -> Nothing until next expansion.

Having to wait 10-20 minutes just to login makes me choose instead to try to login before bed and hope whatever you're stuffing down the phone lines to us is done by morning, so I can possibly play the next evening when I get home from work...provided you didn't stuff ANOTHER damned patch in the pipeline.

Fix the game once after an expansion, like you used to be able to do.
