Just out of curiosity, how many pod-pilots does each empire have integrated into their navies. To the best of my knowledge no hard numbers have been posted, but it has been confirmed that there are NPC pod-pilots within EvE. Me and some corpies were discussing it and we came to the conclusion there were likely 500,000+ pod-pilots among the empires to match the independents and they would be spread out among the empires with the Caldari likely having the most pod-pilots due to their technological nature and being the first to handle the technology, while Amarr (despite their size) would have the least since many aspects of their religion wouldn't mesh well with pod-pilots being highly incorporated into their navy.

Keep in mind none of us are all that knowledgeable about EvE lore, thus, the question. Enlighten us!

Something to keep in mind is that when the first T2 frigates and cruisers were released to players, it was noted that they were only capable of being operated with a capsuleer at the helm (as opposed to T1 ships, which are versions of existing vessels modified somewhat for capsule adaptability.

NPCs appearing to fly T2 ships appear extensively.

Woah really, I never knew that. I assume that lore has not been retconned?

It certainly has not to my knowledge.

I admit that it can be a "wallbanger" in some instances - when the "elite" (i.e., T2-hull-flying) NPCs were introduced many expansions ago, they were a considerable challenge for many players. Nowadays, however, they can be brushed aside by the dozen as people farm L4 missions. While the specter of a L4 runner easily wiping away NPC capsuleers flying T2 hulls is rather... odd, to say the least, I file it under the same category of immersion-breaking that comes with other aspects of missions (i.e., the damsel being kidnapped repeatedly, millions of crew being slaughtered every day by a single player, etc).

Nonetheless, I feel that the appearance of numerous apparently-capsuleer NPCs does give a good suggestion that there are a tremendous number serving in the empire (and pirate) navies.

Technically it could be different damsels from different royal families.

And technically the crew can escape in escape ships, I think I read on evelopedia. Just a crappy survival rate.

Can't wait untill when Eve online is Freemium. WiS only 10$, SP booster for one month 15$, DPS Boost 2$, EHP Boost 2$ Real money trading hub! Cosmeitic ship skins 15$ --> If you don't pay **for a product, you ARE the **product.

I can give some makeup pointers. Make you beautiful too! Smile

Also a thought. Now forgive me, im even less knowledgeable about this faction then general game lore; does Concord employ pod-pilots in their anti-pod pilot policies. Afterall, what better way to drop a capsuleer then with a capsuleer. If anyone knows I'd love to hear about it.

That figure is assuming a 50% surivival rate, which is pretty generous considering how quickly I drop some of those 'rats.

I think it would be safe to say that all Concord pilots are pod pilots.
