CCP could turn the tranquility server into a crypto currency miner, we'd call it ISK coin, ccp can develop a game engine that also mines for coins, and awards players with this crypto currency, it could be a feature players can enable, that mines for the crypto, litecoin, bitcoin, or ccp crypto, with 20-50 thousand clients running eve, you could potentially create a large botnet for crypto mining, legally.

Quick edit, this could also function with dust.

Perhaps I am missing something here.

Why would they bother with that?

If I can buy RL pizza for shooting rats, and pay the mortgage for playing a vid game, +1. If not, -1.

Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.  - William Pitt

I strongly support this idea for non-eve political reasons. The whole BitCoin debate is fascinating and CCP could easily explore the positive consequences of this development. CCP could profit by becoming a hub for trade in BitCoin, by linking this to EveCoin. I do not suggest ISKoin to linked to BitCoin, since BC is still quite volatile.

Do however note that such a step would have legal consequences - in some countries local states look with hollow eyes at the emergence of mostly unaccountable monetary transmission/ payment schemes. If ISKcoin, or something like that, were one day used to allow some minors (miners haha) in the US to buy methamphetamine, the PR consequences might be bittersweet for the franchise.

To all people "that don't get it", please study how BitCoin works. The topic is truly fascinating, and the similarities with ISK are rather poignant. Note that ISK essentially is a form of fiat digital currency already, since participants in the game would already be capable of using it for unregistered international transactions and dubious commerce (where the dubious aspect would be that governments can't tax it).

Note that we may soon find ourselves in an international political climate where local states become so panicked by international economic foibles that they engage CPP in attempts to "cut down on transmission of digital currencies". In the past stranger things have happened in the economic world's stage.

Bitcoin is a scam. It's a tiny market that a number of people have already manipulated now. In the same way margin traders in jita can inflate or crash prices for their own benefit.

I thought buttcoins were used almost entirely for money laundering and drugs? Do we really want CCP to go down that rabbithole?
