Question; Do the peoples of EVE even still remember there earth heritage or has that become myth and legend ?

I distinctly recall the little movie at the start say that with the collapse of human civilization in New Eden, all memory of their origins was lost. It would have to take a monumental archeological find to give us a "clue" that perhaps "we came from somewhere else." The question of "our origins" should already be a topic of discussion. New Edenites must be asking themselves, "from which solar system in New Eden did we originate as a species?" Without asking that question first, we cannot come to the conclusion that our origins lie outside of our galaxy. Then we will want to look for clues as to how we arrived to New Eden. At that point, perhaps, "previously discovered mysterious-ultra-ancient archeological finds" will start to make us look outside of our galaxy for our quest for our origins as a species.

what if there is no earth, and we are all just puppets controlled by evil aliens for their amusement? what if we are just codes and pixels doing the will of masters that play with us like they do with toys (but think it is serious business)?

I mean sometimes it is not logical to risk my 30 bill super on ratting, but sometimes I feel I am forced to do it, explain to me how that happens? Explain to me how sometimes instead of bridging my fleet, I accidentally jump my 100 bill titan. How is that even possible, unless we are just ants in some bigger game of amusement.

Wake up everyone, wake up, "Earth" is just a form of control.

Virtual Realities inside a virtual reality (Eve Online) inside a Virtual Reality (Earth)?! THIS IS MADNESS!!!

Besides, if you go deeper you might end up in the limbo :P

I'm slightly curious as to what kind of tears would be shed if CCP just HADOUKEN'd an entire CFC supercap fleet into ashes.

Loosing ships to scripted events never can be a good thing. :/

EDIT: Even if it might be fun to watch that happen to others...Lol

Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

Rather like in Hitchiker's Guide I imagine that the people who were encouraged through EVE and thereafter trapped were the middle managers, telephone sanitizers and hairdressers of society. Those left have probably been having a sweet time in a nirvana of their own making. We, on the other hand....

lots of confusion in this thread:

tldr:

Earth would be lolmore advanced than even the jove

Longer Version

Earth was significantly more advanced than the current races are at the time when they discovered the EVE wormhole, the wormhole just presented an opportunity for many "impoverished" to actually get to a system that hasnt been claimed by mega corporations millenia beforehand, like all other other stars were.

Terran technology was vastly superior to current races standards, as evidenced, in the Empyrian Age novel, when a derelict terran freighter carried a puny weapon that was able to destroy the entire Minmatar Elder Armada in a single hit.

That hall happened like 15,000 years before the current time. Whent he EVE Gate collapsed Only the Jovian (and possibly a yet undisclosed) people didn't descend into a pre technological era.

However, even the Jovians lost space flight for a century, however once they were back up there, they were surrounded by lol advanced terran tech that they adapted over time, and "cloaked" the remaining fragments from the current races.

Now no one had contact with anything beyond the EVE hole for over 15,000 years, but the terran empire even back then spanned (multiple?) galaxies, i.e. no single event could ever wipe them out. And they were back then VASTLY superior to everything we know now.

Also, to clarify things, Sleepers are (were) jove. A subsect rather, just as the talocan were. The jove empire now, while Technologically unmatched (which may or may not be true, since the jove seem tot hing there is another), they at the current state are but a shadow of their former power.

The jove empire has undergone several divisions, reinvigorations, complete overhauls etc, as any race would inside of a 15,000 year span.

My speculation: there was a war in the Milky Way galaxy. Someone set off a superweapon. The whole galaxy blew up. Hence the continuing EM storm 20K years later, and the problems the Jovians have had with expeditions sent back through the EVE gate.

Meeting what's on the other side of the Eve anomaly will be a lot like the last few scenes of Apocalypto. An outside context problem.

Do these books cover the origins of New Eden?

No. They cover the Caldari worker uprising, the origin of the DUST mercenaries, the origin and rise of Jamyl Sarum, some stuff about the EvE gate, the Nyx that crashed a party and some other stuff about the Sleepers and the Jove.

Another lolpothesys: What if what closed the wormhole was a warp storm that was the product of interference by a certain space elves race, and said warpstorm was just the birth of another certain evil shemale god ? :P
