As far as i know there is no way to change the race, but honestly a characters race makes no difference except for RP and appearance. Any race can train any race's ships or modules so if this is your concern dont worry about it Smile

The only thing you can change (well, if CCP is either in a really good mood, or you get your name reported) is you name, but i dont know how often (or if ever) they will let you change your name unless its counted as very offensive.

Well, you can still fly together Smile
As an example...im minmatar, but i can still fly with someone who is amarr, or someone who is caldari can fly with someone who is gallente, or someone from all four races together.

As i mentioned the only "limitations" your race puts on you is really if you want to get into RP.

If your concern is that he is doing missions for one faction and you for another, this is also not a problem. No matter what race you are you can run missions for all the factions as long as you find some way to get high enough standings to use said agents. If your standings are to low at the moment to use the same agents as him, just be in a fleet, help him finish the missions and turn it in splitting the reward/standings. Soon enough you will be able to pull missions from the same agent, or at least lower level ones so you can grind missions on your own to catch up.

Hope that answers your question Smile

Nope! You are free to travel and live anywhere you want in EVE Big smile

What you might have heard about is people getting blown up by the faction police/faction naby (or whatever name people prefer to use on them).
Say that you have spent a lot of time blowing up Caldari in your missions and your standings towards Caldari is now -6.0.
When you enter Caldari space you will have the faction police/faction navy try to take you down.
Please note i dont know exactly what numbers causes them to attack in what sec status, but as long as your not -4.0 you should be fine.

These are not the same as Concord!
They can be avoided, and you can still travel in that factions space as long as you are careful and dont use AP or a slow ship (would not advice you to try it in a freighter as an example).

Before someone says something... I did not include war decs, ganking and similar when i said he is free (well safe rather) to travel anywhere. Just saying that race has no impact on it Lol

It's -5.0 faction standing or -5.0 sec status, or if you ar part of faction warfare that is against to opposing faction. But really I'm caldari if I so choose I can go and join gallante faction warfare.

Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if you're in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up. Pub Channel: Lost Souls Trading Post

As already explained, no; and in fact, you can go around to all the starting areas and collect their different free frigates/destroyers for doing their tutorials if you so wish.

No need to delete the character even if you cant change race. You can make 3 different toons on one account. Just make another one in the race you want. As mentioned, previously, you dont have to be a specific race to use any ship or module and in high sec you are free to go anywhere.

Bottom line -

You can change race if you want by making a new toon

However, you dont need to be the same race as your friend to fly with him. You can even stop training your current racial skills and start training his racial skills to fly the same ships :)

Also, you can go into any faction high sec space and be perfectly safe as long as you dont have a -5.0 standing with that faction.

See.. isnt EVE awesome :)

No.

However there are no "hard" limitations based on race. Your character starts slightly biased towards his native race (some skills pre-trained, marginally better liked by his co-nationals), but these are so insignificant they can be completely reversed in the span of a few hours.

In the long run, all pilots of all races have an equal chance to do everything. You can eventually become unwelcome into the hisec space of a nation, but you have to do a lot to tick them off (being a criminal, or aiding their enemies via missions or militia).
