Racial Bonuses?

Your thoughts on providing players with racial bonuses -- for example characters of minmatar race flying minmatar ships? Obviously a Caldari character flying a gallente ship wouldn't receive some sort of racial bonus.

These bonuses don't have to be game breaking but maybe like a 3% scan rez or 3% agility etc for flying your races' ships.

You mean skills that would apply to all there race's ships?

In other words racial 'traits', if my memory serves me well depending on your race you get +1 in attributes to Logic or Perception for example, so could work with combat too.

Could create a new dynamic i suppose.....

What was your name before CCP turned you into a generic Caldari Citizen? There is usually a good story behind such a name-change that should be shared. Blink

As for your question, over time CCP completely erased any racial differences.
With the exception a of a couple thousand skillpoints in racial frigates and waepons now all are born equal and I don´t think that is a bad thing.

I for one would be happy already if they'd start by giving ships a bonus for racial drones.
Using Minmatar drones on an Amarr ship is simply humiliating.

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

Forcing players to make irrevocable choices about their character that have notable impacts on gameplay before they have any way of understanding the impact those choices will have is generally a bad idea.

I agree with this more articulate expression.

This plus, the US is a nation of immigrants, so the idea that one "nation race bloodline" is somehow better at a particular arbitrary something than another is asinine and offensive.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Ugh! Please, no.

Irrevocable decisions that unfairly benefit characters that, by the luck of the draw, happen to be in vogue this month is a horrible idea — especially when tied to something as fundamental as race. The game has been moving away from that kind of design for a long time now, and “away from it” is a very good direction to keep heading.

Also, that kind of selective blanket bonuses are pretty much the epitome of unbalanced: ships that happen to be slightly ahead at the moment because of the to-and-fro of game balancing and of the metagame become even more ahead because of unrelated and inherently uninformed decision made a decade ago.

This kind of thing needs to be extremely limited in scope, non-permanent, driven by informed and up-to-date decisions — i.e. nothing even remotely connected to character creation. If you want a slot-5 “loyalist” implant with a minute bonus for an obscene and obstructive amount of cash, then maybe…

I would hate to see racial bonuses in the game.

I don't know about everyone else but when I started playing I just picked what I liked the sound of, which was Gallente. Having been in the game for a good few months now I can safely say I despise the Gallente ships, they are all lumpy and horrible looking. Anything that tries to make me use ships I don't like or face a disadvantage I regard as a bad move for the game.

My intentions were not to force or restrict players into choosing racial specific ships just for a bonus. The idea behind it is geared more toward the lore of the eve universe. These bonuses would be passive and there wouldn't be certain skill books to modify its bonus (it is always active and doesn't require user interaction to use basically).

Arrow i.e. A Gallente character that has an ancestry of miners he or she would receive a passive bonus to mining --+3% yield.

That's maybe the only good thing that EVE has in comparison with other games.
