Yeah, so like the title says.

I also would like some suggestions for tech 1 frigates that I can fight with in PVE.

Also, is there a way to boost skill training time?

One last thing.

Should I train guns for a battleship or t2 guns for a frigate?

If you haven't noticed by now, EVE has hundreds of skills. You have to learn them in order to be effective, whether it's PVE or PVP. There is no getting around it.

If you want to shorten the training time a bit, then get some implants.

Your toon is 4 months old. You really can't complain about skill training times. Wait until every skill you have left takes at least a month each to train.

Minmatar Frigates are popular ships for solo PVP for good reasons, the Rifter is still one of the best choices for newbies due to it's flexibility and hitting power.

Also, is there a way to boost skill training time?

Implants can be used to speed up training somewhat, they require the Cybernetics skill, warning tough, the better ones cots tens of millions.
Generally you got it easy right now, you got grounds to complain when skills take multiple months.

In my EVE carrier I've learned it's more fun (and more flexible) to train T2 frigates, T2 Cruisers and the T2 gear for them rather then going straight for Battleships.
In general I suggest training at most to Battle cruisers so you can do level 3 missions for money.

There are 2 main ways to improve your skill training time. You can remap your attributes and you can use implants. Limited implants are the weakest form; aim for +3 or +4 implants.

As for the skills to train, that depends greatly on what you plan to run. One important thing I found was to learn the Upgrade skills--especially Hull Upgrades. Put together a starter fit (T1 modules) and work towards that first. Don't aim TOO high--a Battleship is a cool goal, but a Battlecruiser is easier to get into, a lot less expensive to replace, and has pretty substantial stats for Level III and (with a logistics cruiser's help) can finish Level IV missions too.

Personally, I have an alt that, when I need it, runs an Exequror with armor repairers. It doubles my armor repair rate. Next, I'm going to focus on getting bigger guns setup or moving up to a T1-fit Dominix or the like.

If you're looking to PVP you really don't want to be using any other guns besides t2 guns. You'll just be a fat, oversized, underpowered juicy target.

If you fly frigates the only places where you can hope for anything remotely like a "fair" fight are faction warfare systems or some quiet lowsec systems. Otherwise you should be flying as a tackler or scout as part of a larger group.

The best way to win is to bring friends and be better organised than the prey. Find friends, find good friends, and stay away from anyone who needs to recruit in public.

If you're looking to PVE, by all means, upship as much as you can, and squish as much tank as you can into your boat. Missile boats and drones work well for lazy people. Bear in mind that as a mission runner, you are a potential victim. People will steal your loot, bait you to shoot them, and then try to kill you. If you're fat enough you could also be a candidate to become a victim of suicide ganking.

Buying plex and selling it to people who might kill you to take your things to sell and buy plex is a good way to raise capital so that you have things for others to take to sell for isk and buy plex.

The pvp entry point is lower than you think.

T2 guns are essential obviously. As is:
Electronics
Engineering
Weapon upgrades
and your chosen races frigate all to level5.

After that, all the support skills can be trained to L3 in a couple of days, then L4 in a couple of weeks.

At that point you'll be more than ready to dive in.

Training Thermodynamics will gie you a 15% all round buff too. Frig 1v1's are over long before anything burns out.

Faction warfare plexing will allow you to more than pay for your losses, and find all the pew you want!

Forget about killboard stats and isk efficiency and have fun.

Edit: Also, once you learn how to get your pod out safely you can afford to use bonus implants at about 10mill each, which will give you various extra bonuses.

Disregard the T2 guns are essential, you can derp fit with uber cheap fittings, or you can use Meta 3 or 4 guns while you learn and skill up. T2 guns are nice, but as a newb you don't absolutely need them. Stay in Frigs and join FW or RvB or something and go out and pew.

Example ships that work pretty well without T2 guns:
Crucifier
Maulus
Griffin
Tristan
Atron
Slasher
Navitas
Condor
etc.

The best two things you can do for your progression are:

1. Find an active but newb friendly corp that is familiar with frigate pvp and is willing to help you learn the ropes
2. Go and do it, try to fight to the best of your ability but plan on losing "one a day".

When it comes to starting pvp in a frig, I would tend to disregard t2 fit in favor of basic t0/t1. Obviously, you will sometime get crushed by some punk flying a faction fit daredevil with plenty of deadspace or even a full t2 but the cost will be about a tenth of a full t2 frigate.

I personnally like the condor, slasher, incursus and breacher. Breacher is my favorite btw, but I don't fly t1 frig so often just on paper, it looks cool. LolLolLol

TL;DR A fully t2 fitted frig is ~10m , go t0/t1, you will fit your ship for 1/2m top. Die a lot ! Have a blast !

Trick question?

If you haven't mastered a frigate, chances are you are not ready for a battleship.

I got my first battleship after doing level 4 missions in a battlecruiser for a while. I was confident I could handle any level 4 mission in a battlecruiser at that point. I built my first battleship myself (I'm an industrialist). I was so proud!

I lost it in a level 4 mission the next day. Cry Piloting a battleship is a lot different than piloting a battlecruiser. The battleship required a lot more attention, and was a lot less forgiving than the battlecruiser I had gotten used to.

Of course I had forgotten to insure it! Tip: Always insure the first ship of a different type before the first use in combat!

I cursed repeatedly, then bought another battleship, because I made sure I could afford to replace it. I was too impatient to build another myself, as I wanted to salvage my wreck.

I never lost that second battleship. I eventually sold it and upgraded to a navy version. I lost the navy one about 2 years later when I got disconnected during a mission. I immediately replaced that ship too, and still have it.

TLDR; ya, spend some time in frigates until you feel you are ready for destroyers and later cruisers, then battlecruisers, then battleships.... and can afford to replace it.
