So my friend was all up in arms about DUST, and after looking into it I figured EVE actually caught my attention more, so here I am.

Now after trying to figure out the UI, tearing my hair out and having the hardest time simply controlling my pod, I finally managed to get my bearings and got my first ship. Off to do the little missions!

So I start going through all the little missions, getting some supplies, some ships, and generally doing the simple basic tasks.

Now maybe I just didn't read the tutorial properly enough but as I get my little missions and travel to the far reaches of space, I realize that every time my agent gives me something, it's in my hangar inventory and I have to move it to the ship. Well okay, travel back to the hangar, load it up, carry on. Okay all is good.

Moving on, doing my little quests, and managing to get the basic ships for mining/exploring/fighting. Focusing on exploring cause that sounds the most interesting to me. So I mine a bit, thinking I'll be needing some income at some point, all that stuff.

Now here is where I get confused. I was on part 6 of mountains and molehills, for the start of mining, and after I managed to make a bunch of cap boosters, the agent won't even talk to me. I don't know if I made her mad or slept with her sister or something, but can't even get her to look at me. What's up with that?

Okay well, now I'm just twiddling my thumbs and I'm still not entirely sure of the whole world. I know! Let's put that exploration to work. Managed to find a security gate I think, accelerated me to a nice little room with lots of debris and I searched around, nothing. Tried to go on the other accelerator, but it was locked. Kay. Still no idea what I'm doing. Ah look, another anomaly. Oh interesting, a wormhole. Let's go in here Some people gave polite advice like "Man, don't go in there." But me, oh I'm way too stubborn. I go in, bookmark my location so I can get out, scan for anomalies. Managed to find a data site and locked onto it, okay here we go. Time to find something interesting aand warp.
So as soon as I warp a little prompt comes up and says "YOU DUN F****D UP, BOY"
I will say it was quite breathtaking, the models and universe are awesome, but there were all these little red dots on my screen. So I say heck no, I'm outa here. Oh man, they locked onto me. Go go go go OH GOD MISSLES EVERYWHERE.

And suddenly I'm a little pod again, fleeing from awakened ones.

So! Let's see about getting a new ship. I have 1mil ISK. Wait, I can't even remember what type of ship I had. Wait, I am still too newb to know how to go about searching for a brand new ship. Wait, 1mil isk is **** broke.

Okay, let's saddle up that miner and go harvest asteroids.

So, here I am. Harvesting. I've actually been having a lot of fun with all this, but I really have no idea what I'm doing at the same time. I realize the game is sandbox, and people just say "Hey man, go do whatever you want!"

I'm still kinda stuck going WHAT DOES ALL THIS STUFF DO?! I think at this rate I'm just going to become the richest newbie in existence with no concept of anything.

TL:DR

Any ways to reactivate missions with agents?
What kind of ships/items am I going to be looking for as an explorer?
how should I make a slow steady progression out of Pasha?
I am so confused.

Also, forgive me for reposts/rethreads/bad forum etiquette. I am quite new at all of this, and I have read around, I just couldn't really find things that were directly helping me and I thought this was the best way to search for some information. Any help is appreciated.

F12 - petition, request a tutorial mission reset. The GMs are very good about that and very fast.

As an explorer, do the exploration career agent if you haven't. You get your race's exploration frigate at the end. That's fine for data and relic sites (or whatever they're called now) for quite some time. That's the Magnate for an Amarr.

Wormholes require a bit more than highsec data sites. A decently tanked battlecruiser for the lower-level sites, friends for the higher-level ones

Im to tired to really write a long response here but +1 for the post and making me laugh, was an enjoyable read (in a good way Big smile )!

For the mission, are you sure you did not turn the mission in and that was just the last mission that agent had for you? And if you made the cap boosters and then could not talk to the agent make sure you have the right amount, the right kind, and at the right station.

If you have all of those covered do what the above poster said and petition Smile

Will check back on this thread in the morning and possibly write a longer response unless someone else has already covered everything, but in the meantime, good luck and welcome to EVE Big smile

- don't worry about forum etiquette on here. this is the newbie forum, you are a newbie, everything is fine. just ask away.

- as the guy above me said, a gm will gladly reset the mission for you.

- wormholes, like almost any other place in eve, are dangerous for a new player. you should read up on wormhole life and/or expect to lose your ship every time you go through them.

- exploration can be profitable, no need to waste your time mining. but again, first you should find out what it is all about.

- if you have the finances irl, there is nothing wrong with giving yourself a little isk boost. buy a plex for real money then sell it on the market in jita. just don't fly around with it, redeem it directly to your jita hangar.

I should buy an Ishtar.

If the agent refuses to talk to you it probably means you accidentally quit the mission.

Petition it.

I like your attitude.

As for the agent problem, as said, petition it.

CCP will more than likely reset any tutorial agent if you made a mistake, they don't like it when new players can't finish the tutorials.

... or you forgot to accept the mission. That's a common mistake.

You'll never completely answer that so don't feel bad. I still don't understand techII production, pos set ups for moon mining or drugs, corp roles and all that jazz... until about a month ago I thought 2 long points would shut off a MWD...she was a lovely Arazu and died in a glorious fit of derp. Are you sure you released the jobs to your hangar?
It's a rookie mistake in industry and that would explain why you cannot go further in the mission.

It it is not that, well, do as everyone else said and petition.

After getting your mission stuff settled up make sue to find a player corp. You will have way more fun, and plenty of people to poke when you have questions.

you should look to join up with a new player training corp - like EvE University .. they have mentors, classes, and a crapload of people whose main goal in eve is to help new players. -- to say nothing of being around other new players who are asking the same questions as you . so you can learn by just reading chat - picking up on what others are talking about.

although fun solo, the game and learning the game is so much more fun playing with others.

History is the study of change.

I was stuck last night because I didn't release the two Civi Afterburners I had contracted, was just confused. I am with you though, I feel like I wandered into a world where nothing makes sense to me and yet everyone around me is talking about how easy it is ;)

I am told it gets better.
