Having not been in an Alliance tournament before can anyone clarify or give a bit more detail to the pre-match stuff. Rules are a bit sketchy on how we get moved.

I take it we need to be in fleet and ready to go. But

1) Do we need to be undocked or docked?
2) Do we need to be in normal space or can we be in a WH? Or is there some specific system we need to be in?

Cheers

1) You should be docked at a station (but not necessarily all people at the same station)
2) There are no specific staging systems, but the teams usually have one (near some trade hub, due to logistics reasons)

The usual procedure is:
- you form a fleet some time before your fight (half an hour should be ok in most cases)
- you have your captain in the fleet (if he's not flying, you'll drop him later on) - this is so that CCP representative can enter the fleet the captain is in
- there should be nobody else in the fleet except the people that will fly in the given match
- CCP representative will ask if you're ready to be transferred ~10-15 minutes before the fight
- all people in the fleet should be docked at that point - this is so that no session changes, or combat flags interfere with the transfer (transfers used to be done manually one by one, but these days CCP use a tool to transfer the whole fleet at once)
- you're transferred and get further orders from the CCP rep on what beacons/arena to use

I guess being outside in space or WH before the transfer would not be a real problem, but it increases the chance that something goes wrong during the transfer, and therefore should be avoided at all cost ...

You must be docked. We will not move a character that is in space.
