Recloak after a gate jump is not consistent when we talk about timing...

Maybe this is how the game works, maybe there is tech issues that we can't solve.

If I jump a gate, align and try to cloak I can sometimes do this in just 0.3s sometimes I need to wait nearly a full second Before I can cloak.

Why this span in time?

Is this also affecting the gate campers that tries to lock me?

Not complaining, just wonder why there is such a big span in the time frame.

I'm no techie but my understanding is that the servers run on a 1 second ticker (i.e. refreshes every 1 seconds + processes data/commands etc.).

Therefore, when you click something, the server may take up to 1 sec to process your command, or less, depending when the refresh hits. This affects all players in the same fashion.

you have too fast internet connection and computer.

Time is always same, sometimes you load next system faster and that is why can not recloak because of recloaking delay your cloak have.

Time is not always the same.
I waited 10 seconds after a jump to let things settle and I still got that wide time frame.
So it must be something else in the mechanics that do this.
Maybe if the server only compute button clicks etc every other seconds but this makes part of the game to survival of the luckiest and that's not fun. Even if you do everything correctly you may be faster or slower than the computer and bam, you are in your pod.

Just trying to understand the wide gap.
I timed every button press and it really was between 0.3 and 0.980 seconds.

It's a one second tick so if you hit the button at 1/10 of a sec into a tick - you wait the extra .9 + lag time to server + whatever has to come back to the client.

The further from the server and as BM said - the faster your computer is - the more noticeable it feels.

The time you wait after the jump is irrelevant.
You just waited 10 ticks and clicked at the beginning of the 11th.

I would like to confirm that this issue is in fact due to the 1second tick of the EvE server, and as others have explained, your recloak time depends on where within that 1 second you clicked cloak.

In practice, you will be fine with your cloaky ship , but you seriously need to be on the ball when facing an instalocking gatecamp, or you will get locked before you can cloak.

Your biggest issue would be hitting cloak too quickly and getting the dreaded "interference from your cloaking...." message, and then having to press cloak one more time to actually cloak, giving your enemy more time to lock you.

In the real world, you will be fine 99% of the time, but realize that the 1% still happens occasionally.

It's basically server lag + clock ticks. Your command has to go all the way to the UK before it's applied to eve. If you get lucky your command came in at the same time as an execution tick and if unlucky right after it finished executing a tick. Eve works on 1 second ticks so .3-.9 seems reasonible. I'm not sure if other players are the tick cycle as you are or not.

We should just be able to activate modules from gate cloak and that should cancel the cloak.
Like when undocking, activating damage control will cancel the invulnerability, using
any module should cancel the gate cloak instead of giving the error message.

Walk into the club like "What up? I got a big cockpit!"
