Received damage display

Hello,

I have an ideia. Again more enemies the effect of received damage is unmanageable.
I want to see the type of the damage what i receive.
Maybe a graph, or something similar would be enough. If i see the received damage type (12% Kinetic, 35% Exp.., 44%.., 9%..) it will be easier to select the type of the protections. If it will be an option to set the sampling time (the time phase for received damage calculation) it will be great ;)
A really simple picture here
The DEVs can make much much better from this.. :D

If not a graph, pls write the kind of received damage to the center of the display.
For example:
"312 from Angel Impaler - Hits (Kinetic)"

I hope it is a good idea, and help others too.

What you think about this?

+1

One of my pet peeves when I started playing was not knowing who did what damage. Yes I was told by others and dug up info online, but it took a while.

The addition of damage type to the combat log will go leaps and bounds to help new players to understand the way resists and hardeners work.

On the flip side, I wold love to see what resistance my targets have when I am hitting them.

Autocannon hits 'Amarr frigate' for 25 Kinetic damage ( 12 resisted )

This tells me that the has roughly 32% Kinetic resistance when I hit him. ( {12 / {25+12} } = ~32%)

One of the reasons a not too close friend of mine quit is because he did not figure this stuff out. He was doing LVL 1 & 2 combat missions and every time he came up against Amarr he was toast but against Caldari he did OK. I explained to him that he would need to change his armor modules to suit and he did not like the idea of re-fitting every few missions.

I know there is a lot he could have done differently but still, knowing how hard you hit someone but not knowing how much they resisted is very odd.

You have this information from the Logs and Notifications of who did what but not for Turrets. The Missiles\Torps etc types are stated e.g. Nova Cruise Missile.

This would make it easier to see the types of damage you are taking but that would take away some of the fun of learning how to counter the damage and learn about the game and types of damage each type of enemy could inflict.

Undecided on this.

EDIT: I don't want to see EVE dumbed down anymore than it has been TBH.

Given the scope of their NPC database I would assume that it was sourced from CCP at some point.

This area have been greatly reworked a couple of expansions ago (I am not sure which one), and it is much better now, but I would really like more improvements.

Like you suggested, the type of damage is a good information to have.
I would also like to separate damage received from damage inflicted , for example in two columns or different areas of the screen.

No to the op, the eve learning curve is tough and that's a good thing, it filters out those who are unsuitable for life in new eden and it creates a subscriber out of those who deserve to be here.

Dumbing down of Eve Online will result in it's destruction...

I know this pages, and i use te agent mission reports too. I dont want make the game too 'easy', just a little more 'userfriendly'.
We use some homepages to find information about ships, missions, etc.. but sometimes the informations changed. I think that, this would be a good kind of feature. For example the new players can learn easier what mean that, if see an Anire Scarlet :D
The explorer side is more attractive now, because become a visual side. I think that this 'received damage' feature make the same way.
I really enjoy the game and I want just help, so peace and love :)

It's not like I wanted to flame you, but when I was here, I just wanted to know if you were aware of some pages out there. On top of that @Little Dragon Khamez: as it seems CCP wants to create a dumb game out of it, so it would attract a lot of people and gain some more €/$. You can't blame them for that. The worst what they can lose are the 'veterans' who have anyway so much ISK that they are not subscribed anyway and they'll probably stick around just because they can?

So yeah ... The "exploration" patch just shows you where they're going. If you don't know what I'm talking about, then you should just go and try to explore. "Oh look, an apple is there, there and there. Let me just scan it!". Soon, you'll just log-in and just click option 'Mission' and ship will do almost everything for you. You should not care about modules, weapons or similar since all weapons will be more-or-less hybrids and it will make no difference what-so-ever. No clue why did they even bother placing signatures which need to get probed down. They should've just show them as 100% if you're flying covert-ops exploration ship and have sisters core probe launcher. That would be great!

EDIT: Yes, that was a rant. I don't like how they're taking away the 'skill' out of the game. I really did enjoy the game I played before this patch. You've seen the **** in the system with a Covert-Ops, and you could come inside of the system like the biggest noob ever, flying only Caracal with no additional rigs to probe sites down, and you would still find the Radar down before someone who has been pre-scanning the site in Covert Ops. Nowadays it's all about how the signals disappear if their probes are not covering the signals ...
