I'm what you probably call a "weekend pirate" or something along the lines. I do not choose the time when I can play EvE but I find myself in situations when I can logon for an hour or two. Naturally, all I want to do is have some fun with the game so I grab whatever pvp ship is ready for action in a station nearby and head out to lowsec.
Hunting targets is fun. Engaging them is even more so. Since 99% of the time I'm solo it is hard to get in to a reasonable fight sometimes. So kill what you can catch. Fair game to everyone in lowsec here.

What I'm a bit worried about here are the security status hits that we get once engaged in the fight. A couple days ago I happened to be roaming around in my trusty little Slasher when a Heron showed up on D-scan. Seconds later I was in warp towards the star. Landed right on top of the guy. Did not know what to expect because it seemed too easy - could be bait. But what the hell it's just a Slasher I thought and engaged as soon as possible. He died very quickly and I cought the pod. Since the character was about two years old I decided to convo him for ransom only to get blocked. He popped shortly after.

The Heron was 750k isk and the pod was empty. For this "deadly" crime I got myself a 100k isk bounty and killrights available for some corp. Which I gladly welcome and looking forward to. On the other hand I got around 1.5% security status hit for killing the ship and a huge -9.5% for the pod. A decent BS rat gives around 0.2% increase so it will take more than 50 BS rat kills to grind that back. Which I find ridiculous. My sec status is -4.4 now. I don't want to be locked out of hisec so I can't really have any more fun before I grind some of that back and that prevents me from logging on sometimes since shooting red crosses is no where near as much fun as PVP. Really not looking forward to that. I don't have hundreds of millions of isk to blow on security tags either since I do not play that much. I am quite sure there are more players who are facing similar problems.

I really think these hits could be more reasonable. Similar to what you get for killing a ship would be more in line in my opinion.

Also what could you suggest for a casual pvp guy who just enjoys to shoot other dudes without much consequence and with more fun? I know there's FW but don't you get locked out of big parts of hisec for doing it?



TL;DR Security status hits for podding in lowsec is too damn high!
