So basically, you're saying that just a bunch of unrepentant griefers — they could easily follow the rules, but they're a bunch of [lower backs] and don't because they don't feel like it. Would you say that there is any way to stop them short of simply banning them completely?

Quote:
If its such a"simple" it should not cause such a commotion.
Non sequitur.
The rule is ridiculously simple: don't bring religion into the game. What's causing the commotion has nothing to do with the simplicity of that rule, but with the apparent chronic inability of some people to follow it, and having no excuse for what they do. The rule does not cause any commotion at all; obnoxious behaviour does.

Is it REALLY that obnoxious or all people making mountains out of molehills? Religion in the game does not bother me one bit.

Just like when individuals do things that are against naming conventions that are some what offense to others doesn't bother me.

There is only a small percentage of people that get offended at religion. Its like schools banning peanuts cause one kid has allergies, its insane. Big smile

I have to agree with the OP.

If it is not EVE related it really has no business in game (at least not public chat channels or on cans in space.
This means RL politics / religions / national items / sports and yes by right that includes holidays like X-Mas.

I realize people mean well, but like everything there is a time and a place where things are appropriate.
These things are not appropriate, you can discuss them in private channels all you want.

What should be done about the cans.
They should be simply removed.

Priority for removal , LOW.

Let me say this again this is not about freedom of speech or whatever it is about a time and a place for what is appropriate.
IF people can't understand it then they need to go back to school.

On a side note personally I could care less I have cans removed from my overview anyways cause they are filled with nothing but garbage anyways.

People breaking the rules of the game are really that obnoxious, yes. So much so that they have an entire staff division allocated to dealing with these kinds of people.

…and again, the question is: why is it so hard to just follow the rules? Especially when the rule in question is so ridiculously simple?

The proof is the amount of arguing this thread contains.

Religion doesnt bother you because you are a religious person though.

The ban on religion in the game isnt due to religion's inherent harmfulness, its down to the fact it creates arguments and unresolvable debates like this one

Politics are banned for the same reason

I assume you drive a car or have driven a car. When you go 5 mph/kph over the speed limit you are breaking a rule, do you think you should be arrested and fined? You are offending the gov't by not following its rules. Even though its such a simple rule, just follow the speed limit. Point being is, we all break rules, and some rules are more important than others. And, in this instance the rule in question is trivial at best. Now if every system was littered with religious material and every person named their ship religious that would be a problem.

But that is not whats happening.

Sorry but you didn't read my posts. I said specifically it is NOT a right. But it is a freedom. Big difference...People are free to murder if they choose to, they just have to understand the price...

That's a good point - an injured child could make an effective witness and may even remember your car's plates.

The lesson here seems to be, if you are going to break the rules do it properly.
