Greetings. When I start EVE it will not open the launcher therefore I need to open it though the Bin Exe file. Does anyone know how to fix it so the launcher will work? I am using a Windows 8 computer.

Have you tried running it as administrator? If that doesn't work, try running launcher.exe from within the launcher folder. If that fails send me your logs and I'll take a look at them and see if I can figure out what's wrong. The logs should be in launcher/cache and called something like launcher.2013.06.06.log. Since they will probably be too long for a single post/pm I recommend using pastebin.com and then just sending me the link.

The Launcher is broken. Starting as Admin does not work either!!!

This worked for me: go to C: -> CCP Folder -> EVE Folder -> bin Folder -> start Eve.exe

which will start the client directly (like it used to be)

What a mess CCP !!!

Do you have the same symptoms as OP, i.e. the launcher doesn't start?

If not can you please describe your symptoms? The logs don't say anything out of the ordinary except that your system-clock appears to have the wrong date.

edit: win7, not sure if this helps:
Hey FWIW I often find that the launcher doesn't launch because it previously didn't exit cleanly, and the launcher.exe process is still running in task manager (control-shift-escape.)

Killing all instances of launcher.exe so far has always allowed me to re-open the launcher successfully.

In reply - Yes I have tried both running as admin and running the launcher exe. What happens for me is I try to launch it and it seems to appear briefly in task manager then close out. http://pastebin.com/BUYHJvEK is my log. Seems a bit different then 30Mbu's log.

I'm am having the same sort of issue

Its first started with the installer
Quote:
Archive extraction failed: 3.

I downloaded, and installed manually.

When I started the launcher, at the bottom of the screen it reported

Quote:
(1/4): VALIDATING CLIENT: 0.0%

And stays there for...ever.

I started up the ExeFile and and the EULA shows up for me to "Accept," I click it, and then a 6MB update shows up after. The installer works, but apparently only going through the motions as the launcher returns to its "(1/4): VALIDATING CLIENT: 0.0%"

I restart the ExeFile and go through the same process.

I wish I didn't have to pay for this.

P.S. the Repair Utility doesn't work at all only reporting

Judging from these logs you are running the old version of the launcher (version 1.32) and for some reason it fails to self update. One of the things we changed in the new launcher was the self update mechanism so that if you could try installing the latest version of the launcher manually, hopefully it will self update in the future.

You can download the installer for the latest version of the launcher here.

Do you happen to have Spybot Search and Destroy or any other sort of antimalware/firewall enabled? There is a known issue with some of those programs, especially Spybot.
