Update the old style hangars

The new hangars look great, they really do, but looking at some old screenshots, I can't help but feel they are missing some character. How about taking some of the old style station interiors, updating them, and putting them back in the game? Right now, apart from the race, you can't tell one station from the other inside, let's have some more flavor!

Here is an example of an old pleasure hub interior:

I know this would require a good bit of work from the art department, but it seems like this is something that could be done slowly over a period of time, and just pop a new one into the game whenever it is ready.

I'm going to be honest and post my probably unliked opinion.

The old stations really sucked. And oh god the weird noises they'd play when you were in them..

Save the drones!

I disagree, the old stations we're a lot more atmospheric, the new station interiors are all actually built on the same model, though this is disguised really well with the Gallente interior, whilst in stark contrast the minmatar and the caldari or almost identical apart from the textures.. The Amarr is the only one that looks like it has a completely different design base.

Dumbing down of Eve Online will result in it's destruction...

I think there should be at least 3 interiors per faction

Each station should have a unique interior. And let's not get into unique CQ's as well.

Okay, so I went ahead and got into them. Moving on.

I miss the old gallente pleasure hub. I DONT miss the old 'ambient' noises. Some of those were god awful, and others were simply awful.

Best one around was the Gregorian Chant Amarr stations, and even then you would start enslaving others just for sitting in station too long.

If you're driven to threaten others with harm or violence because of what they do in game, you can't separate fantasy from reality. That "griefer/thief" is probably more sane than you are. How screwed up is that?

Another thing that would be nice would be for stations to be "dirtier" in lower security space.

Hey now. CONCORD and the imperialist pig-nations may have decided that the backwater system I operate my factory in isn't important enough to be given any better than a 0.2 security status, but I'm not going to let that affect the quality of life for myself or my workers! My station is kept absolutely spotless, inside and out! If any of those spacefaring pirate vermin want to dock here, then they'd better wipe their feet or I'll ship them right back out the airlock - not necessarily with them in their ship!

Or perhaps I'll "accidentally" transfer their consciousness into an old B-grade holoreel when they want to clone jump.

Why exactly would they be dirtier when no one uses them? :P

Heh, ok, perhaps that was the wrong way to describe it, but something the visually marks the difference. Kinda like going to Vegas, you can't walk a block there without noticing the laws are somewhat... different.

What were the old ambient noises? I apparently have a mental block.

I completely agree. The old station environments in most cases were definitely WAYY more atmospheric. I didn't really notice much of a change between the station environments before and after odyssy, and I didn't really get too excited about it. I mean cool, you can see traffic. That's great! I like that idea. But the stations still look generic.

I 100% back up this suggestion.

edit: ah crap, dev account. Oh well, official rofl at you sir.

I'm all for it.

Add in the old station types, but updated, with an update CQ to match (yeah I went there).

I feel bad asking for anything more from CCP though, they already do so much for us.

I didn't even know they had old station designs. Is there somewhere I can look to find the rest of them?

While we're at it, why not make the hanger feel more like a hanger? Display all ships sorted by size so when you switch between them, you get a grand feeling. Not to mention the awesome of seeing your entire fleet in the same station.

Any way you look at it, buffing station spinning is great

They showed a concept for future station interiors at the last Fanfest, must be on YouTube.

Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot.

Any idea what panel that was on? I just went through the art panel, and I saw a little bit, but that was more in the UI section, so I thought it was more there for being a sample UI mock up then how they wanted to go with hangars.

I watched a whole lot of fanfest footage and totally missed this. Mind posting a link?
