Voice acting

Hi,

I think EVE would do good with some more voice acting on NPC's to make the game come more alive.
For example on agents when getting a mission or targeted NPC's. Animating the NPC's wouldn't be necessary if you add in a soundwave graphic to support the sound (radio chatter).

EVE seems a bit dead, which is very nice if I'm not interacting with anything or anyone, but it would liven up the experience.

Aura needs to get more of her speaking roles back.

Agreed.
*giggles* Another reason to rethink the "no ship crew" stuff. Roll

I never got behind why it's been so many years now and only litte voice acting exists. There are a lot of spots where we could hear things from people. Heck, would be cool to hear some icelandic too.

Using tablet, typoes are common and I'm not going to fix them all.

And not just Aura, but the NPC's around eve.

It just feels so quiet sometimes that it might just be a text based game.

Agreed completely.

Which I'd believe is the reason some newer pilots have such a hard time getting engaged in the tutorial. They usually end up leaving the game before their first day is up.

Get in a corp that runs decent voice coms. Some of the most immersive moments I have had in EVE were slowboating from one gate to another, or up to the station back when you could not warp to zero, kicked back waiting to warp or dock and listening to the cross chatter of my corpmates.

I'll volunteer to voice act some sound clips!

Don't even need to pay me.

The only reason they're not doing this is because it's a bad way to utilize your resources. It's expensive if you want it to not be ear rapingly bad, integration with normal game development causes issues and it doesn't allow easy altering to the content once recorded. I think the constant alterations made to tutorials was the thing, that caused them to get rid of most of the voice acting in the first place. I don't have anything against it per se, but I'd rather take almost any other game improvement over it.

Freelancer did this pretty well, even had pictures.

Add an OPTION for Voice Mission Briefings:

Agent Voice: Hello Maximus, I need you to go to Ammold and retrieve the data chip with the encryption codes from the Angel Cartel ship there, and then return to your agent with the chip. [urgent voice] Be sure you check the timer for this mission; you won't have too long before the Angels are sure to clear out. [/urgent voice]

Once accepted Aura could chime in with 'Maximus Aerelius (you sexy beast) you have accepted this mission. Good luck Pilot".

As an OPTION though. Would be nice to hear something from the Agents. Obviously add racial voices, male and female and personalities.

Once mission is completed: "Mission Accomplished, come on home Pilot" rather than just a flash message in Local and a flashing Journal icon.

I like it. Audible taunts from pirates would be pretty cool too.

In fact, speaking of taunting, they could make it a game mechanic. You could taunt a pirate off of another pilot who's in dire straits, dependent on your skill level and other factors like how badly the pirate wants to take out the one he's shooting (he'll have greater motivation to stay on his target if he's just about to finish that target off).

Anyhow, getting back to voice acting, open it up to the sandbox!

Allow players to submit voice acting for various mission text, which CCP could determine whether it is of decent enough quality for use. Maybe have a pre-screening process where the community decides if its good enough before it goes to CCP for approval.

So.... free voice acting, and CCP only needs to spend resources to vet the audio and incorporate it into the game.

Actually this leads into another suggestion I've been mulling over (but haven't submitted) regarding opening up mission creation to the sandbox. Those things could go hand-in-hand.

Exactly, it would make NPC's and the whole single player aspect of EVE much more attractive, instead of being, as Soundwave put it at fanfest EVE Online: Tax returns.

Great idea!!!

Although I don't play much anymore, DC Universe was cool to get the story along with the mission. Mark Hamill does a fantastic job as the Joker.
