A nice article here on the effects of Burn Jita 2.0.

There are two types of EVE player:

those who believe there are two types of EVE player and those who do not.

Thank you for the information.

I also want to note, the complete lack of "hulkageddon" type activity is a major factor, considering that it forced miners into PVE/PVP, but this time only minerals where destroyed, completely offset by the investors heavy on minerals who simply used the chance to cash in a little bit.

Effectively equal to a 1 instead of a 1-2 or a 1-2-3 upon the mineral market.

a toned down but prolonged hunt upon miners would be beneficial to stabilizing the eve economy and restore confidence.

I created Burn Jita. The writer is basically wrong on about every part where they try to identify our motives. I had pings in our jabber asking questions which I deflected. Of course there are tinfoil reasons. The writer just never figured them out.

An invitation to wild and unconfirmable speculation if ever I saw one.

It wouldn't be unconfirmable actually. Eventually the truth will be revealed. Probably years down the road though when it doesn't matter anymore.

I'm genuinely curious about this. Would the explanation be independently supported by data or would it be a case of 'Gather round while I tell you a story of the Goons'? Are there 'artefacts', so to speak, in the market data that could potentially reveal what went on?

Nice charts, but horrid analysis. He points out how weird it is that mineral + freighter prices drop post-Burn, and assumes it's because forward-thinking manufacturers' supply chains keep ticking while demand dries up.

1) This assumes not that most manufacturers are forward-thinking and most purchasers aren't (which might be defensible), but that the freighter demand that should accrue during Burn Jita VANISHES, and more egregiously

2) He completely ignores that freighters are exactly what's being targeted and destroyed during Burn Jita. This should raise post-Burn demand higher than normal, raising prices even IF manufacturers kept manufacturing jobs ticking during Burn.

From the blog:

Quote:

The strange thing to note is the weekend after. A spike in sales volume, a plunge in materials value, and a general slide in sale price. To everyone who has taken Economics 101, this seems to be completely counter-intuitive.

The strange thing is when people claim to have taken Economics 101 but play surprised when that (in rectangle) perfectly in-trend continuity head and shoulder HAS to show an increase in volume when it goes into effect. Because these patterns just work like that, relentlessy, all the time.

There are people who make money on those "strange things".

MMO's like this are the best research subjects of psychological and economic manipulation and conditioning tactics known to the public. If only this had been around during the MKULTRA years.

Great microcosm of actual investor sentiment in the face of sociological breakdown of safety conditioning, like during 9/11. Seems these days the zero-sec peeps control the most valuable resources for construction.

"Does the Eagle know what is in the pit, Or wilt thou go ask the Mole? Can Wisdom be put in a silver rod, Or Love in a golden bowl?"  "Above all, you can believe in Providence in either of two ways, either as thirst believes in the orange, or as the ass believes in the whip."
