I propose that when a ship warps onto your grid it does not display in the overview until you close and re-open the overview.

What? You think that is a totally stupid idea? OK, how about this:

When a new anomaly or signature spawns, it is immediately displayed in the scanner window, just like a ship warping onto grid is immediately displayed in the overview.

Why?

I already D-scan manually every few seconds, add having to manually renew the overview constantly as well and you will really make being in space a pain.
