Where did i go wrong?

Can someone explain this to me please?

I was soloing relic & data sites in C2 WH. After clearing one from all the sleepers i warped out to get another ship for salvage and hacking, and to my surprise when i came back the sites was not there anymore, only the wrecks remains.

That was quite frustrating spending an hour doing that to see all my isk gone? And Yes, i was alone. I don't think anyone had the time to scan down the place and hack all the cans while i was away for to minute.

So there's probably something i did'nt get ?

Stuff despawns when you warp out after the sleepers are dead. It's not like k-space.

Mag/radar sites (or anoms) always despawned very quickly when (almost) all the sleepers were killed and there was no character in the site anymore.

However, I'd have expected this is different now, because data/relic sites are supposed to only despawn when all of their containers have been hacked. (A 'fix' for that is supposed to be in the works, so that they despawn after a 'resonable amount of time' even when only a few cans were hacked, but that fix has not been deployed yet.)

Actually that is the way k-space sites used to work as well. They broke everything in the other direction recently when they made them never despawn unless all cans were hacked. I'm guessing they reverted that change at least for WH sites.

It's been a while since I've ran anything mag/radar in a wh. The isk/hr before odyssey was absolutely terrible and I'm hearing it's much worse now.

Mag sites are worth your time. Radar... much more random for payout it seems. Both despawn if you leave and don't get back in less than 60 (?) seconds (I normally get back within 60 seconds and never lost one). Been a while since I've solo'd though.

Ah, I was thinking 'it cannot have been deployed yet because there was no patch', but of course this would be a server-side 'fix' so it may already be live.

Of course we've had a Data site persist now for three days even though i went through the trouble of hacking all of the cans specifically so it would go away.

Yeah, general rule of thumb is that they do despawn if left. But I've had this happen as well and had to wait until DT for it to despawn.

So i guess the best way is to leave a small sleeper on the site and kill it when i get back?

never tested this but was told leaving a drone in the site would stop it despawning, if that helps

I was also startled by this when I was raiding a neighboring C2 (I live in a C1).

All of the C1 data/relic sites will persist when you kill the sleepers, and the sleepers will respawn at downtime, allowing you to farm the site every day for sleeper salvage until it despawns a few days later.

At least one of the C2 sites has the same behavior--I had time to go back to my hole, grab my salvager, salvage everything, go back to my hole again, grab my hacking ship, and come back to hack. However, the second site I tried this with despawned as soon as I warped off after killing the sleepers.

Would be nice if there was some consistency.
