Is it actually 1v1 or are there a slew of loopholes involved that pretty much mean your always going to be fighting a small gang.

kinda like the whole lowsec suspect flag gate gun exploit

100% safe. No one will shoot you if you accept a duel. Lol

Low Sec Gate Gun exploit?
If you mean warping away and back to shrug off gate guns - that is intended and working correctly - not an exploit.

There is nothing preventing other people from taking part in your duel besides the normal aggression limitations. Honourable combat is therefore in no way mandated by the mechanic. It just allows players an easy way to have fights between themselves.

I guess you could always do some work to make sure there is a lower chance of interference. Things like, if you're worried about remote boosting you can invite them to a shared fleet, so both sides get the same boosts or if remote repping is the concern, fight at a location where suspects are aggressively engaged by your own backup or by the locals.

It's EVE Online, what do you honestly think is going to be the answer to that question?

If I recall you can be podded in a duel. You decide if that's safe.

i guess a better way to phrase my question is:

Is the duel command any more noble then yellow can dueling, or is it just more convenient.

Duels just create a limited engagement between the person that sent the request it and the person he sent it to.

That's all it does, nothing else. It's exactly the same as if you had a Limited engagement with that person for any other reason.

Also it's a mechanic and EVE is a video game, nothing "noble" is involved at any point, the events that occur are fictional.

This is EvE, nothing but staying docked is "safe".

Undocking is not safe.
