I would like to create a industrial planet, one which i just buy the goods in the trade hub, and export the commodities I create. is that possible? or is it just a giant ISK sink? i can't find any good commodities to produce, i have looked into T2 and T3.

Yes, it's possible.

It will require market research and a little skill with spreadsheets (like most everything in EVE).

I know sometimes it's difficult to realize just how much you spend on incidental things each month or year, but seriously, EVE is very cheap entertainment compared to most things... If you are a smoker, smoke one less pack a week and pay for EVE, with money left over to pick up a cheap bundle of flowers for the EVE widow upstairs.

It is possible and sometimes really lucrative, but there are a few catches:

> to make really huge profits it requires large amounts of items to be bought and sold on the market, prepare yourself to manage a lot of buy/sell orders and stay close to a trading hub
> for the reason above, it requires consistent investment on raw materials
> it is really viable only on temperate/barren planets and those must be as close as possible to a trade hub to minimize fligh time, do your research
> it may feel like a grind (and if you run 24/h production cycles it is)
> you are flying a lot of expensive stuff to/from planets/gates, you *will* be vulnerable to suicide ganks both at planets and at gates
> import/export taxes are profit-eaters, it is better if you team up with some lowsec corp to agree a lower POCOs tax rate, but then you will be forced to fly in/out lowsec, and you'll be exposed to lowsec politics, it might be worthy but is riskier: make your pick.

if all the above doesn't scary you, i might want to have you as team mate for production, let me know.

Completely agree over the Gate thing.. I run a 9 Toon PI group. I actually do not buy any extra material. 8 of the 9 Toons are mining and producing T2 materials (AKA Rocket Fuel, as I always get confused with the levels). I've recently reset my PI, where only my main toons, with good evasive skills, actually go thru any gates. the rest of the toons never leave the system they are in. All the materials get collected and sent to one planet for manufacturing. This planet is manufacturing material for POS fuel and 4 of the 8 final PI items.

Average income from this is roughly 200M a week. I'm about to add a couple more planets and possibility start up on one more Final item, but not sure.

hope this helps

Here's a CCU4 level factory setup I use alot: http://imgur.com/vQhsp

Use it to make P2 from P1, for, for example, Coolant.

Fill launch 1 with 24k Water
Fill launch 2 with 12k Water, 12k Electrolytes
Fill launch 3 with 24k Electrolytes.

Rout properly.

Come back in 2 days, pay export fees, ship to Jita.

Profit.

CCU5 setups use 4 launches and can be set to make Robotics easily, although the time to complete extends to 4 days or so.

Have fun!

i use 9 toons for pi as well

i use one toon as a dedidicated factory toon all 5 of his planets are factory set up as follows

2 Launchpads
21 adv factories

basically each planet produces 1 P2 product so i dump roughly 20k P1 units in a pad and route takes about 2 days to eat through that much product so i put 40k of each at the poco

the other 8 toons feed the factory fellas addiction

i roughly make about 300m a week with what im doing
